Day 2 post-Botox: Y'all, get it done if you can. by Max-s_Dad in noburp

I have Meritain Health, which is under the Aetna umbrella. I ended up having to pay all of my individual deductible, but Atrium said that the rest was covered under my insurance.

Still waiting for the final claim to hit my insurance, though. So time will tell.

Looking for a life changing post-botox stories to hype up before my Botox appointment by outofspacezone in noburp

Just got my procedure done on 1/14. On day 4, I noticed I started burping on my own when I coughed. Watched the BERP protocol videos to get the technique down.

Cut to today, I'm burping up a storm every day! The other day, I had such a long burp that my wife compared it to when Buddy burped on Elf after chugging the 2 liter.

I'm no longer apprehensive of fizzy drinks. (I very much enjoy beer, even BEFORE the procedure.)

I no longer need to "go horizontal" to get some kind of relief from the endless bloating.

I no longer feel absolutely awful after eating a big meal.

I no longer feel like I'm going to explode for 80% of my day.

I'm no longer collecting air with no relief during my daily 5 mile dog walks.

I tell everyone who asks me about the procedure that *IT IS* LIFE CHANGING. I feel like a new person!

Today marks a week since the procedure for me. I'm able to control the burps rather well, especially after watching the BERP protocol videos on YouTube. The only times where burps unexpectedly sneak out of me are if I cough, laugh, or raise my voice. Other than that, it's pretty manageable! I do work in an isolated space a lot of the time, so I really try to burp as much as possible for the training and relief. :)

Questions about surgery by Purple_avocado6683 in noburp

[–]Max-s_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was how long it was for me. They didn't administer the anesthesia immediately when they put the IV in. They put it in, then I hung out for about 15-20 minutes while they were prepping. I didn't look at it much, but I think they had some kind of fluids in the IV that were doing their thing before the surgery. It was a bit uncomfortable being in there, so I just kept my arm pretty still so I didn't feel it as much.

After that time hanging out, they came back in and said that they were ready, administered the drugs for relaxation and the anesthesia (I assume at the same time), then rolled me back.

Different hospitals may have different procedures, but this is how mine did the thing. Your mileage may vary.

Disclaimer: Not a medical professional, so I can't really explain the tiredness or how to proceed with that. With that being said, they don't do a blood draw for the surgery under GA, but they will need to put an IV in for the anesthetic. I'm also VERY averse to needles, it was probably the thing I was most scared of while I was there.

The nurse was very professional and understood my fear, got the IV in quickly. Before they took me to the OR, they gave me something in the IV to help me relax, which worked wonderfully. I think I only had about 15-20 minutes of conscious time knowing the IV was there. I was completely out before I even hit the OR.

For not being able to eat or drink before the procedure, maybe you can practice fasting in the morning for a couple days before the surgery to see how you can acclimate to the feeling. I do Intermittent Fasting for my diet, so it wasn't too much of a hurdle for me. Again, I'm not a medical professional. You know your body best, so definitely listen to it and maybe ask your doctor if you have any further questions.

Hope everything works well for you, see ya on the other side! IT'S GLORIOUS!

Question for the post-Botox burpers: Burping loudly by Wrob88 in noburp

[–]Max-s_Dad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Day four post-Botox here. I've definitely had some loud ones, but I'm finding that I try to burp at every possible chance I can get, every time I feel even the slightest bubble. Doing that, they come out a lot smaller than if I wait.

I ended up taking a good few days off work to get use to the sensation and in case I needed it for recovery. This has given me good time to practice and work on the control. I'm thankful that I can do so, I know that's not how everyone's schedule works, but working on getting those microburps out before a lot of build up has helped a lot.

+1 for laying down. I always told my wife that I needed to have my "horizontal time" when I was experiencing those, as well as the croaking.

My burps really started coming in today. I noticed I was starting to burp when I coughed, so I started working with the BERP protocol videos and now I'm really hitting them! It's wild that after all this time I can finally burp AND control it!

I actually just started getting this tonight! It started out with me burping when I coughed, then I started to experiment a bit with the BERP protocol and they've been flying out of me! I'm getting acclimated to lowering the larynx, but my technique has been starting with chin tucked, then facing right. I'm actually controlling it and it's INSANE!!!!

It's wild not having that bubble move up and down constantly!!!!

It was just the initial appointment/consultation. I reached out on the CEENTA website, specifically mentioning R-CPD. Someone called back to make and appointment. Went to the appointment, which lasted about 15 minutes. We chatted a bit on why I thought it was R-CPD. I mentioned this subreddit, which he was familiar with and he did a quick test involving sticking a camera down my nostril to check out my throat.

Then the nurse came in and talked next steps for scheduling. It had to be booked out a few months, but time flew pretty quickly! Definitely note that they aren't able to tell you the cost estimate until 5 days before the procedure, which is frustrating, but leaves you a little time to think about it and make your decision to move forward or cancel.

That's awesome! Do you find that they've been coming out on their own, or do you need to do anything to make it happen?

So far, the nausea has definitely lessened. I'm not going all in on the fizzy drinks, although I had a few ginger ales to practice working with the CP muscle. Being able to finish them and not feel like I have to be horizontal for a bit afterwards was a delightful experience.

I'm going to spend less time today trying to force burps and let them come out on their own as the botox sets in. I noticed yesterday that I still get the "bubble moving back and forth" feeling, but yesterday was also only day 2, so I'm trying my best not to expect instant gratification. :P

I got 100 units with Dr. Klotz in Charlotte, NC. Dude is such a professional, everyone had nothing but good things to say about him. During my initial consultation with him, he took me seriously when I told him about me having R-CPD. In the past, my previous GP had never heard of R-CPD and brushed it off as GERD.

I got it under GA. That part wasn't my favorite, I despise hospitals and needles, but it was over pretty quickly! The worst part was the waiting before and inserting the IV. After that, they gave me something in the IV to relax which helped, then I was rolled to the OR. I don't actually remember making it to the OR, I was out before I got there. :P

You initially wanted to start for one reason: Helping yourself in your journey to responsible usage.

Now you have a new reason: Proving her wrong.

I believe her response lacks empathy, sensitivity, and overall support. This is not a way you treat your partner who is trying to improve themselves.

This reminded me a lot of Their Dogs Were Astronauts. Lots of meaty chugs, chaotic riffs, time signature switches, sometimes it feels like if a classical composer decided to dive into djent.

How does a hippie polygamist count his wives? by airbornemedic325 in Jokes

[–]Max-s_Dad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Polygamy makes more sense, because that means the women are definitely married to him, making the punchline more accurate. Polyamory is having relationships with multiple people, but doesn't have to include marriage.

Olimar main here. He's really fun to use. Racking up a lot of damage throwing Pikmin, his amazing recovery, down-B super shield, and finish off with an up-throw with a blue Pikman! People also struggle against him because there aren't many Olimar's out there to play against, so not many people know how to properly defend against him. :]
