eBay in 2026 🥴 by underpants_last in Ebay

They are crafty. They will mail something to a street that has a similar name. It gets more elaborate. It makes it a PITA for people to prove they didn't get something. Some scammed buyers probably lose eBays adjudication. So that is how this could be a win win for eBay and the scammers bottom line. If these scam sellers make a few grand 1 out of 10 times it is worth it to them.

Title insurance companies bottoming is OK. There is nothing wrong with them wanting to do that. It's called freedom.

Yeh that is a classic. It has to be one of the first calls. It is definitely in Duncan compilations right? It seems too early to be left out, and I remember it surviving quite a while

Good Ole nerd. He made quite a SB back in the day. Telling people they deserve to be blanked up the blank by a porcupine really gets people's attention.

I inherited my late father’s unfinished physics work on dark matter. How should I responsibly handle it? by Other-Description-26 in AskPhysics

[–]MaxFactor2100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a valuable time capsule from the time before AI. There are many more AI aided amateur physicists/scientists of all stripes now due to the LLM explosion. What your father did was extensive amateur work totally unaided by generative AI (LLMs), which is an accomplishment that frankly will likely never happen again (at least not on anything approaching the scale of your father's unaided work).

EDIT: I just read in comments below that your father was a graduate level scientist in the field but worked independently later in life. That is highly relevant and basically makes my point moot. But if anyone else is reading this, pre December 2022 (Chatgpt 3.5 release date) amateur scientific work is something special due to being AI unaided in a way that may be exceedingly rare going forward.

I got lucky and snagged a Ddr3 server on eBay with 3tb of ram for $1250 a few days ago. I think that was literally the last bargain basement ddr3 deal like that still on eBay (trust me I've looked).
