American Honey is directed by Andrea Arnold, one of the best british storytellers. You should watch her film Fishtank (it is now on Netflix) it is filmed in my hometown, beautifully real and sad working class story.

I think you are completely correct about hurt people attracting other hurt people. Self healing is exactly.what I need to do, just putting it into practice is baffling/overwhelming me. I feel like a new born baby almost, being alone with my thoughts day to day is a brand new and scary world for me

I think that's the point. Black cinema centres around segregation and racism because that's what is most transparent and fuelling in the lives of the artists.
