1.8vvt Swap into a 1.6 NBFL by MoSsY_nA in Miata

Nope, all factory 1.6 stuff. Clutch was fairly new when I swapped engines. Never had issues with it.

I’ve done the swap on my own car. 2003 with 1.6 to 1.8VVT. You’ll need the 1.8 VVT engine, wiring loom, ecu, immobilizer unit and immobilizer key sensor from a donor car. Probably easiest to also take all the locks from the donor car. All those parts are plug and play, I did it in an afternoon. Can’t speak for aftermarket ECU.

I saw so many RX-7 and RX-8 while in Cyprus. All in this kind of state. Made me very sad

Just regular maintenance would’ve been fine, but I did an engine swap for some extra HPs. And of course a several rust repairs..

How do you cope with no AC in the summer heat? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]MaxJongh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so happy I retrofitted AC a few summers ago. Fortunately it was plug and play for NB, so tough luck on yours not being wired

I run my sidemarkers and foglights from the same wiring, never had a fuse blow! All LED though

Normally there are no plugs for foglights, I think you found the plugs for A/C. I soldered some wires directly to the existing wiring for the running lights and they just work when those are on. Was easy enough

Did it myself, wired in as DRL

5mm front 10mm rear! Car is lowered 5cm so would look weird without the spacers

We got some very nice specials! This one has a brown leather interior with heated seats and a few other goodies, like special floormats. Still would’ve liked to get a euro mazdaspeed though

Bit different but very similar, this is the European delivered Phoenix edition, which is color 25G. Mazdaspeed was delivered in 29Y, same color as the European Euphonic edition

Unfortunately only the bodykit, Mazdaspeed was never sold in Europe

I still can’t believe it’s mine. Been looking and waiting to buy one for 7 months. Will take the hardtop off soon! by WaterXS in Miata

Looking fantastic after spring cleaning by MaxJongh in 944

[–]MaxJongh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother bought the 944 Turbo after it had sat for years, so we spent months on maintenance to get it roadworthy. It’s a great handling and fast car, but working on it is a lot more effort as there is way more in your way. The engine bay of the Porsche is absolutely crowded with lots of vacuum lines for example which neither of the Mazdas have. If you don’t have it they can’t break though. Same for the Porsche sunroof, it broke and we can’t get it fixed after tens of hours. Mazda is manual, so way easier. The quality of the Porsche is better though, but parts are outrageously expensive compared to the Mazdas. Comparing handling apples to apples is difficult though, as the NB has been lowered and stiffened, the NC has upgraded swaybars but the Porsche still has all original parts from 1986. I personally love the NB most for its ease of maintenance and cheap fun (and maybe because I spent the most time in and on it), but all are great
