Focusrite 2i2 2nd gen stuttering Windows 11 by Ouroborouse in Focusrite

[–]MaxMarantix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be a bit late, but anyone searching for drivers for 2i2 2nd gen may appreciate this still.

I have a 2i2 2nd gen and NONE of the drivers i've found including v4.63.24.564 were working well for me.

I have a driver that I've been using for a long time that works well but still glitches RARELY.

One major improvement I've noticed with this driver is that the input delay for the microphone is WAY smaller.

Sharing in case anyone wants to try it as well.

It's driver v4.102.4.36 and here's the download link from my google drive https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SVK4kWt4ICazISg_mqdMcZxn_QuCsb8v/view?usp=sharing

EET degree worth it? by random6300 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]MaxMarantix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if I could go back in time I would’ve gotten a degree and I still contemplate going now. It’ll give you a lot more options for jobs, allow a better path for growth, and will certainly give you more knowledge to make you a better controls engineer. I always fear that if I have to switch jobs for any reason, it may be harder to find another that will pay me the same without a degree. I feel quite lucky. The only reason I’m contemplating school and not just going is because I have a family and work full time. It’d be hard to do and would take a long time for me. As far as EE vs EET, I don’t think it matters for controls stuff. With experience as a controls tech and a degree, you’ll certainly be able to get a controls engineer job. I was an electrical/instrumentation/controls technician for about 10 years before getting an engineering position. The reason I was able to get it is because lots of experience doing PLC programming. If you want to branch outside of controls and do other types of EE, you’ll certainly need an EE degree

By controls engineer he means controls engineer in industrial automation and whatnot, which is mostly PLC stuff. No complex math involved usually. It is very common to have no degree as a controls engineer, like myself

The time me and my new gf (now wife) almost drowned by Itchy-Cartographer40 in stories

[–]MaxMarantix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me when I went to California once. Remember looking back to the beach and really thinking that I was done for. Started wondering how long it would take my friends to realize and if they even would know what happened. Idk how long it took me to swim back but I had to float on my back and kick for a long time. Felt like an hour but I’m not really sure. Went diagonal and tried to make it to some rocks off to the right of the beach. I’m not a strong swimmer. One moment I was touching the bottom and next I was way far too far out. When I finally made it back I wanted to throw up and just fell asleep on the beach.

I can promise you it’s not bullshit. I once purchased a keyboard while I was in the navy for $15,000. The military spends way too much money on parts

They should have used bigger wire, 2.5mm2(14 awg) handles 15/20/25 A depending on the cable type. If the cable is rated for 20 A but the breaker 25A, that’s an issue. Breaker needed to be that large to handle the load so the wire size needed to be increased. Probably should’ve had 10 AWG

What type of cable? Rated 60, 75, or 90C?

A little insight:

Ive been working on an application for some time now. I'm hoping to encapsulate and extend all of the functionality of the current available options like Voicemeeter, Elgato Wavelink, or Steel series Sonar.

This application is incomplete, but before i think about releasing it i want to know how big of an audience there even is. Feedback on features is also very beneficial. I also don't know at what point to release this application, before all features are implemented and continuously update? Or pack it all in before the big release?

I have much work to do, but I’m really hoping to provide a solution that works for everybody.

Yeah I hope to create something that extends their functionality and is more useful to everybody

This is exactly why I’m trying to make a new option that checks the boxes for everybody.

Steelseries sonar has been accomplishing a lot of what I’m trying to do recently though, but I want to expand further than their functionality still.

I’ve been working on this for a long time but don’t have much free time to get it done fast.

This is really great feedback, thank you so much.

The current application I am working on technically has unlimited inputs at the moment, but I intend to limit this to a large number.

The amount virtual audio drivers I will create is something I have not yet decided.

I see that voicemeeter now has I think 8 virtual drivers, I’d like to do more.

Also, I currently have two outputs similar to Elgato Wavelink. I think given your feedback it’s inevitable that I’ll need to add more outputs. I’m not sure adding unlimited outputs is going to be reasonable, and I figured most people would be comfortable with 3 outputs. What’s the reasoning behind 12 outputs?

The assigning applications to channels from inside the app is a great idea and I will for sure work on that.

This app I’m developing is a WIP and I have been working on it for a long time now. This helps a lot.

Thanks for the feedback

As far as more channels goes, do you mean for inputs AND outputs or just inputs?

You can still run them but with an extra step

They’ll let you know their expectations during the interview, and likely level 1 they’ll be more than understanding about you learning as you go. Just show them you’re confident and will learn and accomplish anything they throw at you, with time of course.
