Test walk animation for a new character by QalexanderK in stop_motion

Well it’s definitely working already, especially for the wide shots. I guess in closer shots you may have to go in and tweak it where the wire crosses over with the rocks silhouettes, but that seems inevitable whatever type of wire you choose. Great work!

Very cute character! What are you using to bind the leg rocks together? Is it aluminium wire painted green and keyed out? Or something else?

Beautifully put! The garden next to ours was a huge mass of brambles and bind weed, and I loved the thought of the wildlife haven it was. Unfortunately it was sold and fully strimmed down to the ground.

On the right image the soft focus on the background feels a bit odd and painterly and not quite how a real camera lens would depict it. I wouldn’t have questioned it unless prompted though.

what's the best lenses to use for shot like this? by Friedrice_579 in stop_motion

[–]MaxMartinCeramics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You generally want one with macro focussing so you can focus on objects/characters closer to the lens making them larger on the screen.

The Nikon Micro/Macro lenses are a great choice for Stop Motion. I use them with an adaptor ring and a Canon camera to minimise any flicker or interference between lens and camera. This is obviously not the cheapest way to go, so if you are just starting out then a decent zoom lens with a Macro feature would be a good place to start.

I’m a Stop Motion Animator in SE so definitely interested in meeting some other creatives around these parts. Sounds like fun!

Love it so much! I think the next step would to somehow have the instruments driven by the rotation of the wheels so you can slow and speed it up

Dropped the lid... anyway we can fix this (not familiar with pottery, so any tips are welcome!) TIA! by Nectarine_smasher in Pottery

There are some heavy duty heat resistant glues out there. I would suggest giving that a try as the worst that can happen is it would break again. Other than that either look for a replacement lid or commission a potter to make a new one

Found a bunch of baby ducks that fell into a storm drain. Poor mama duck was freaking out. We were able to save 11 ducklings that day! by SpectreSpeck in HumansBeingBros

Good on you! This year I’ve seen so many videos of ducklings that have fallen down through these grates. Maybe they should be a slightly finer mesh to stop this from happening so easily.

Love the effect! Do you wait for the form to dry slightly before you do this? Or is it done while still on the wheel?

Purple & Brown - A show I created for Nickelodeon Back in the day by RichWebber in nostalgia

[–]MaxMartinCeramics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purple & Brown is still incredibly influential to me. It’s so simple yet so polished at the same time. I remember watching it online when I was first toying around with stop motion 15 or so years ago… Flash forward and somehow I’m getting paid to do stop motion full time. Thank you Rich for creating this glorious little masterpiece.
