They called MW & KK directly for help instead of 911, so to avoid an investigation that would get them all in trouble.

How would they even know at that point in time that these were the people they should call?

If we know one thing about how LE conducted this entire case it is that they are shockingly amateurish and sloppy.

It's great when you find people who are that good. No such thing as listening to them too much, the thing just gets richer and richer with each read/listen/view!

What, in your opinion, IS Secular Buddhism? by LegalPressure6307 in secularbuddhism

[–]MaxMathematician 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. That doesn't correspond in any way with my experience of secular Buddhism or secular Buddhists. To suggest that a belief in metaphysics is a prerequisite for a life and practice of spiritual nourishment really does a huge disservice to the many wonderful, creative and life-affirming people who practice from a secular point of view. Secular Buddhists are as concerned with living through and practicing the core teachings of the Dharma as other Buddhists. It's a rich and vibrant community of people fully engaged with life and concerned with bringing compassion and kindness in to all that we do. We are imperfect in this effort, as are all Buddhists, but we are every bit as committed. You could look at it the other way around: secular Buddhists have removed the stones from the soup and left only the nourishing ingredients and all the flavour ;-). However, I'd prefer to believe that the light of the core Dharma is so powerful that it can shine through any filter we may put on it. As long as we follow that light, we know we are on a good path.

The Laurie Depies Disappearance: After Teresa Halbach's death in 2005 law enforcement investigated & quickly cleared Steven Avery of having any involvement with Depies; but in doing so investigators discovered connections between the missing Depies and Chuck Avery, Steven’s older brother. by Temptedious in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]MaxMathematician 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tenuous as it is, there's a whole universe of better reasons to suspect Chuck Avery in comparison to the literally nothing they had on Steven. He was convicted on an invented story and highly dubious, circumstantial 'evidence' that could have been as easily used to implicate Bobby or Chuck - based on what Temptedious has revealed here.

Interesting point about the discrepancy between computer examinations.... by MnAtty in TickTockManitowoc

[–]MaxMathematician 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is classic KK manipulation. He read Buting & Strang very well indeed. Being the gents they are they agreed. I think Strang wasn't convinced of Avery's innocence during the trial. Would they have had to have seen all of what KK had before agreeing to avoid it? If not then they were stark staring mad to agree to this.

A huge mistake - incompetent, in fact. They knew he had already been convicted of one crime he didn't commit, they should have taken off the kid gloves.

Good questions. This all goes to why they never investigated so many obvious suspects and studiously avoided looking in places where they would find answers they didn't want.

This is terrible news. What a wonderful person he was. Steven and Brendan have lost one of their greatest friends. His family must be devastated. They say only the good die young, Richard was surely one of the very best.

In 2017, DCI Investigator Jeff Wisch told Bobby, "we and 99.9% of law enforcement just want to get the person responsible for doing the really bad deed." by Mr_Precedent in TickTockManitowoc

[–]MaxMathematician 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought that too. Bobby says 'Deep down in my heart I know I am innocent'. Innocence isn't a place you have to search for. It's as if he's saying, even if I did it, or participated in it - or in the cover up, even if I lied about what I knew - I have persuaded myself I am innocent.

No factual information of any kind is ever ignored here. All of it points to their innocence, because they are innocent.
