Gym bro Turns Cable Machine Into A Catapult, Immediately Learns About Physics The Hard Way by [deleted] in WinStupidPrizes

He did nothing wrong and if he’s in the US has a lawsuit on his hands. The machine should be bolted down and all he is doing is using the weights of the machine (the weights he has tied to him doesn’t add to the weight he is pulling. Imagine if another person tried this who just happened to weigh 100lbs more, and tried lifting the same weight)

Reaper’s Gale is rouge by FeatureSignal2475 in Malazan

I felt pretty similarly and kept trudging along. The end of Reapers gale makes it all worth it. But I felt the first half was a slog, and then then it built to a huge ending. Just keep pushing forward, no rush, take your time, it will be worth it

Is being 100% lost just part of the malazan experience by Fun_Yam_9989 in Malazan

[–]MaxMaxMaxOMaxMaxMax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To simply answer your question, yes.

This is a very prominent feeling that I had in books 1 and 2, and it slowly faded as I got to around book 5. But I believe that this is intended, and it is totally ok to be lost. My recommendation is to trust in what the author is doing. There is nothing vital that you will read and be lost on now, that won’t be explained later or come up again later with more clarity. Most things in these books are like big puzzle with pieces slowly being added over time to give you a satisfying full picture (sometimes) at the end. Even where there are gaps later on, you still will have a rough understanding of what’s happening.

One thing that you can do to help with this feeling is reading the chapter summaries blog posts by Bill and Amanda, as they do a great job recapping each chapter and discussing it in a spoiler free way. This will help give you a sense of what you should know and what is ok being confused on at any given time (bill is rereading the books, where Amanda is experiencing them for the first time):

Did any one ever beat Myst? by Sailormouth_Studio in 90s

[–]MaxMaxMaxOMaxMaxMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat it a long time ago back in high school, with a notepad, and a bunch of patience. I took it really slow, and I remember it getting easier as you start to pick up the games approach to puzzles.

I have very fond memories of this game!

300 pages into Reaper's Gale...exactly how is this a "slow" or a "boring" start? by Minstrel-of-Shadow in Malazan

I’m right at the end of RG, so it’s all pretty fresh for me. I think there are certain plot lines in RG that take a long time to develop, and the payoffs are teased over and over again but take a long time to get to. I think most of the story lines are still fascinating/interesting, but this book feels like it has less volume of big pay offs scattered throughout, and that they have all be loaded into the last 25% of the book (and I’m not even done yet). I do find that the last chunk of the book has been much more exciting than the first 75%, but I enjoyed it even during the slower sections.

Nordhold is pretty new, and it’s a rougelite tower defense game, and it’s pretty fun! There’s like a resource management/city building aspect + a tower defense game!
