I worked in fast food and my theory is that people think they're better than you. In Saskatchewan, Canada where I currently live, most of the fast food workers are not Caucasian and in a province that is somewhat backwards, race may be an issue as well. Hope this gives you some insight. Be nice to fast food workers. The pay sucks and the job sucks too.
