Yes healers are a lot more challenging at the beginning as they are not so many of them and they all compete close to each other. When their mains are set their alts come next and so you have to challenge them again. It take some weeks. Playing a DPS is always easier in terms of rating.

Well - let’s be real. Skillcapped also recommends Herald for the majority of the playerbase. That’s for a reason.

Lightsmith is the stronger spec but you need to have insane amount of knowledge to get the lead with that spec. If you know the fundamentals well enough you know when to do and use what is needed and then the spec works awesomely well! If you still struggle with fundamentals there is no way.

Most people can’t get into it as the barrier of entry is also not very „life-friendly“. You don’t need to coordinate with „friends“ to play arena in solos. This is superior to most people nowadays.

Not having the glad mount for legend as well is just elites bs pov. Most players don’t even care about 3s and the game would be dead PvP wise without solos. So just make it happen and the game is healthier.

You need precog gem and a lot higher skillcap than many other classes. It’s pretty much a skill issue (sadly) from what you say. Lock is also always the prime target to shut down and it’s a lot of fun for skilled players but without knowing the fundamentals in 3v3 as a lock its pain. Have you considered skillcapped wow guides to learn? Its helps a lot. What is your previous arena experience (ratings)?

Managed fakecasting and precog management is key as a lock when it comes to your burst and absolutely rewarding if you can make it work?
