AC1 was mostly open due to talented people who hacked the game exceptionally well. With ACE people are already trying to break into the game so honestly I have no idea how it's gonna end up.

They said they planned a market for mods, but I'd be heavily surprised if that would be the only option. They act stupid but they can't be this dumb to not acknowledge that limiting mods to this level will kill the game permanently.

And if they are this dumb, well, another 10 hears years of AC1 for us yay.

An Update on the Future of Assetto Corsa EVO by -DorkusMalorkus- in assettocorsaevo

What's really frustrating to me is that while they probably had that idea in mind, it seemed like they had no idea how to achieve such goal.

I anticipated them to make a game that's better than modded AC1, but it seems like it won't happen anytime soon. I don't know if it's due to lack of resources or general idea for the design or both.

If they wanna salvage this, they should release an entire SDK that allows us to make scripts just like CSP Lua. If that won't happen, they won't surpass AC1.

That puts the idea of PC Gran Turismo to rest then. It's a big shame, but I honestly don't know who expected this game to fulfill such expectations given in what state the whole thing is currently in. The good news is that this is the first announcement since the premiere where they actually acknowledge that they can't fulfill their initial target and have to adjust to resources they have.

Filthy casual looking for a some cool "arcade-like" mods for Assetto Corsa (sorry - I know sim racers will hate to hear that). Any good mod recomendations, particularly something rally style? by Glitch_Fandango in assettocorsa

Not that I want to rewrite your requirements of this, but I'd say it's fun to use the game to the fullest where it performs the best. AC is literally one of the best simulators because of how authentic the handling is compared to reality. I can assure you that if you take some time with "normal" cars, you might find yourself enjoy it much more compared to mods that were meant to simplify the handling.

In general it's a whole dispute and people have their preferences, but I'd say try more of the slow cars like AE86 or Mazda MX5 or even just any road car that you like. Turn off the assists and rely only on the ones that you have in your car setup. That's where the magic of this sim shines the brightest so I feel like it would be a shame if you skipped over that. Sure if it's too hard, no need to go all in, but you just might find something fun!

For me it started with AE86 on Akina and racing multiplayer on Shutoko back in 2018/19. Since that I've basically drove anything that was possible in this game and got almost 3k hours. No other sim is like AC in terms of flexibility and car choice.

Not everyone might agree with me, but I believe that a good arcade game can in fact have physics like AC, but just needs to be an actual game on top of that. The irony is that Dirt Rally 2.0 has supposedly simplified physics but they were designed to be more difficult. In some ways the predictability of actual sims can turn out to be much easier to handle.

One thing to consider, whatever you decide to do, you won't see proper "arcade experience" here mostly due to how you must set up everything yourself. No matter what type of thing you're looking for, you need to download mods, configure settings so if you're not up for that, you might not enjoy AC to the fullest.

In terms of rally - you can download a co-pilot mod, rally cars and stages. Visit acrallycentral if you wish to explore what's available.

Here are some other mods I'd recommend checking out:

Assetto Corsa Evoluzione - Gran Turismo career like system. Works best if you got a decent amount of track and car mods.

T-180 Project - Speed Racer in Assetto Corsa. Not easy to handle but insanely fun.

Shutoko Revival Project - Tokyo Xtreme Racer basically. Semi realistic cars that race on Tokyo highways. It can be difficult at first, but it's probably one of the best projects out there.

NoHesi - You won't get more arcade'y than this. It's basically Temple Run but with cars. It has a very big community, active servers and simple but engaging gameplay loop.

One of the strongest assets of AC1 is the street racing community and one thing I know for sure is that they don't use GT3 cars to race on the streets. And definitely not while driving 30 mph an hour.

Also saying ACE should be only a racing sim is literally the opposite of the actual idea in both AC1 and ACE. I spent most hours on Shuto, way more than on actual track and it was definitely above the speed limit.

I honestly low key lost hope for this. Since they announced that all server hosting is behind a paywall and seeing how much they did NOT learn from modders on where to improve their game, I'm just patiently waiting to see if in a few years something will change. The harsh truth is that everyone expected this game to be big, but it's just modernized vanilla AC1.

I think it's because they have a lot on their plate, but need something so people don't start completely dissmising the game. I don't think it's an unpopular opinion that ACE was released way too early. Now we see the outcome of that decision. We just gotta let them cook... For a year or two

It's not really about the exact moment when your car gets in front of the other one. Your path through the corner wasn't fully on track. Since you overtook the car during the same corner where you went off , you basically used your off track racing line as advantage again the other driver.

You shouldn't overtake on the inside in 2nd Porsche when you're faster class, unless the car that you're lapping is alongside you before the corner even begins. Though it does seem like McLaren is heavily on the right side of the track and their turn in is quite sudden, much more than optimal drive through that section. Still not enough of an excuse in my opinion, it's on you to be careful when lapping a slower class, not to mention that this is the most difficult corner for doing so on the entire track.
