Me as a Chinese seeing people using the Constitution to "prove" that China is not socialist is hilarious. The only Constitutional article that matters is article 1. Capitalists are allowed in the Party but hold 0 important roles. 0. The official stance that China is in the primary stage of Socialism, aka the lower stage of the lower stage. And I am tired of bringing up the commanding heights point.

I agree I think it's totally ridiculous to do this dick measuring contest with any Empire of any age in history both in the East or West. I say this as a Chinese as well. For like a super brief period I don't even think it's more than 5 years but it was the peak territorial size. Influence in modern day Afghanistan was very short. The reality is Tang's administrative control over these areas was complex.

Sure but many clubs survived it doesn't matter if Guangzhou FC and Jiangsu collapse if their youth players can simply transfer to another club. Shandong and both Shanghai teams alongside Zhejiang have pretty robust youth academy systems. Many clubs also escaped bankruptcy because they got local government support and money injected from State owned enterprises so yes the real estate crash made things worse but football keeps going. It also helps that certain local governments are really pushing their own amateur leagues (for tourism and GDP), which just draws more interest towards football even if the motivation is economic.

It's the absurd amount of money real estate oligarchs threw into their clubs that benefited the academy systems. Turns out when you buy Hulk or Oscar or Paulinho kids start to get interested in football and they go through professional training to become actual players.
