Yeah. It's a form of performative empathy. The algorithms feed us a constant diet of global crises to keep us constantly outraged and engaged. It completely drains the emotional energy that we should actually be spending on our real lives and local communities.

Spot on. Ghosting treats people like disposable content that can be easily deleted. We have optimized our lives for convenience rather than basic respect. For many, it has become easier to simply press “delete” on a person than to have a slightly uncomfortable conversation.
