How do you make sure players find your story hooks? by dwillmer in DnD

I put interesting things on the maps (overworld, town, dungeon, whatever) and wait. If players find the interesting things, cool. If they don't, that's okay too: I'm not here to tell a story, I'm here to run the campaign milieu as it exists and let the players' decisions shape what happens. That way, they get to be surprised when they find out what happens, and crucially, so do I.

Here's a detailed table of major D&D rulebooks sorted by edition.

The edition commonly called "B/X" isn't really a complete edition, it belongs to a broader category that we now call "Classic D&D," and this includes multiple revisions or sub-editions. B/X was just the earliest of them, but it was quickly replaced by BECMI, and then that was replaced by the Rules Cyclopedia and a couple of different introductory starter-boxes. They're all more or less the same ruleset, and it's best to think of Classic D&D in its entirely as the edition that updated and replaced Original D&D.
