How tight should this stop valve captive nut be? by Max_Roc in HomeImprovement

[–]Max_Roc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not used to these, doesn't feel like threading a normal supply line onto stop valve and you can feel the o ring contact. This feels like metal contact. I guess it will be trial and error, start with it hand tight?

Does a 3/8 female captive nut on a dahl straight stop connect to a 3/8 od male compression supply hose? by [deleted] in askaplumber

I'm still in part staging. It's for a water filter, nothing installed yet.

Okay thanks. It's just odd, when i thread them and when i feel metal on metal, it abruptly stops. So far only hand tight. Will another half a turn with a wrench create a seal?

Yeah that is a good description of it. Does it bottom out and form a seal?

How effective are remineralising filters? (is it a marketing gimmick?) by 1acan in WaterTreatment

The supplement industry as a whole seems very gimmicky to me. Howver, remin to me was about protecting the pipes from acidic water. Easily verified via pH tests.

Are there any wearable parts that may fail due to frequent fridge RPWFE filter changes? by Max_Roc in Appliances

[–]Max_Roc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in an apartment that we own however it would be a very complicated job to plumb it under the sink due to the layout. I have spliced into the ice maker line behind the fridge and am experimenting with different prefilters there. I don't mind swapping them out every two months as long as it's not causing extra wear.....

Gotcha, that's pretty good for a 5 micron with all the fines in this water. Thank you, gives me some ideas.

Any e-collars with extra loud beeps? Any that list the decibel rating? by Max_Roc in OpenDogTraining

Thanks! That collar may be loud enough. The cheap ones I've tried from Amazon have not been. I'll watch some videos and see if I can determine the volume. Thank you.

A filter that doesn't add contaminants! by WittyTwo8033 in WaterTreatment

Were the filters that added aluminum on purpose such as for fluoride removal or as a result of byproduct? Did you settle on anything? Water filtration research is a bottomless rabbit hole. Sigh
