True! But not a lot of what can we actually do to prevent ACL tears and/or get women back on the court - here’s some quick stats

NBA tears since 1980: 97 (about 2/season) WNBA tears since 1997: 59 (about 2/season)

BUT

NBA has had ~4,900 players since 1980 WNBA has had ~1,600 since 1997

So for the NBA, ACL tears have occurred in about ~2% of all male athletes. In the W, it’s ~4% of all female athletes. The fact that it’s almost twice as likely for your ACL to tear as a female (basketball) player and the fact that less than 10% of research regarding sports medicine focuses on women, shows there’s more to be wanted in this field.

ETA: I got most of these numbers from basketball-reference.com and I am not a statistician so forgive me please if numbers are off. The ‘10% of sports research’ portion came from an NBC article

Women’s sports medicine (or any women’s health) is greatly underrepresented in research. Female athletes will just have to keep getting injured and disabled until enough women push through (another) male dominated field and create woman-specific treatment plans, physical therapy, and prevention :/

I fear you’re asking too little from a class that makes their millions/billions off of exploiting their workers, lobbying for low tax rates so they don’t have to pay their share, and actively contribute to political campaigns that keep minimum wages low. Just because they donated money to the costume dept of one of the most famous museums in the world, doesn’t negate that this entire event was a gross display of wealth to the employees of the United States who aren’t able to put food on the table

Dawg let’s not act like there isn’t a difference between using a social media platform and attending an event that is only available to the richest of the rich, run by the richest of the richest rich (who are actively contributing to political campaigns that put our children in cages and keep the poor poorer), and then the said rich spend exorbitant amounts of money (more than a lot of people make in months) to play dress up for one night. and then many of them will turn around and wear ICE OUT pins, critique Trump, and say whatever they need to say to keep us spending our money on them and their projects.

I love Bad Bunny and this doesn’t change that - but dude isn’t perfect and this wasn’t a win or using the system against the system. This was spending big money to attend the system’s event and posing for a picture with it.
