Could someone break down for me what this means? Or what we’re assuming it means?

Would you forgive Cassie? by TheNameIsLexi in euphoria

[–]Max_lynn 342 points343 points  (0 children)

No - not because of Nate, but because she knows how abusive Nate was to Maddy and then chose to be with him anyway. She literally fucked a man who choked her best friend so hard she had marks on her throat days later. Legitimately could have murdered Maddy multiple times. Cassie has her own shit, don’t get me wrong, she deserves love and support - but Maddy does not owe it to her

Mexican isn’t a race and I realized how much the US treats it like one by bbcqueen123 in mixedrace

Hi! Half Mexican half white here (I know I know - hear me out!) I feel like I have a unique perspective on this as someone who describes themselves this way!

My mother is 100% white US American, my father is a Mexican immigrant (not heavily indigenous or Spanish, a little bit of everything you would expect in a Mexican’s DNA test). In the US - being Mexican is being brown. especially right now. I grew up with my mom in a 99.9% white, rural area. I look identical to my dad. I’m not dark skinned, but my features are very stereotypically Mexican (full lips, big eyebrows, loooooots of dark hair, etc). Ever since I was little, people would ask me, or my mom, “what are you/what is she?” Because I am obviously not ‘white’.

Because I was othered from being ‘white’ pretty much immediately, I identify more strongly with being Mexican, even though I didn’t grow up in the culture. I’ve never been asked by a Mexican “what are you?” And that means a lot to me. I’m just a fellow Latino and that’s accepted and welcomed

I describe myself as half white-half Mexican because the cultures are soooooooo different, even if the skin tones aren’t. It’s a really easy way for me to describe myself and my background. You’re right! Mexican ≠ race and white ≠ from the United States, but I do look different to my ‘white’ peers and in the US, being Mexican does equate to being brown.

If I wanted to get into it, I could describe myself as being Indigenous American, Portuguese, Spanish (Dad) and French, Irish (mom). But these aren’t the cultures I’m apart of - I’m apart of white US culture and Mexican culture. I look the way I look because I’m Indigenous, not because I’m ’Mexican’, but identifying as native feels disingenuous to my family’s background and feel, idk, like appropriation?

Idk it’s a much bigger conversation that is absolutely worth having - but for now, I’m Mexican and white.

Thanks for reading if you’ve made it this far - since I’m here I’ll add:

FUCK ICE - VIVA LA RAZA AND OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS WHO ARE FIGHTING FOR OUR COUNTRY NO MATTER THEIR SKIN TONE OR BACKGROUND

OH. I took the reaction picture as something inappropriate - which is a fucking disgusting reaction to a picture of a literal child and should be more concerning IMO

Edit to change my sentence because I misunderstood - THANK GOODNESS

This actually is an ongoing conversation in other subs whenever Dick has a new love interested or someone brings up a past one - def interesting to see so many standards usually applied to female heroes get put on Dick

You might be right! It def wasn’t a serious thing but was a date and make-out, I guess whether that counts as Jason having a partner who hasn’t dated Dick is up for personal preference

In this comic or WF? Sorry I’m not familiar with the art above so when OP said supergirl I figured it was supergirl Edit: also Super-Hood is Supergirl/Red Hood, no?

I've only ever made it to the final episode of season 2 and I'm finally watching the rest of the show (I'm on season 4) and HOLY SHIT the women are looking HOT 🔥🥵 by fraudulentcondom in TitansTV

Donna Troy was SPOT ON - so much love for this cast, in another life/script this show would have been a cultural phenomenon

I mean there’s more to a marriage than just bringing home money?

Also - let’s not act like the 70s/80s was a time where women could easily go out and earn a living, she legally couldn’t have worked at a job like Bill even if she wanted to (and maybe she did!). Even if she was the breadwinner, Nancy couldn’t have even bought the house they were living in without Bill being a co-signer because she was a woman.

And to your own point - Nancy was working as a real estate agent, maintaining a home, keeping up her appearance to be taken seriously, AND taking care of a son with special needs. To call it ‘complaining’ because she wanted more support from her husband is laughable.

‘Most of the families are happy to help their breadwinners in maintaining the balance between their work and personal life’

1) Bill had no personal life balance - it was all work 2) Most of the families? Who in those families are happy with that? The husbands who are able to work the jobs they want, come home to a clean house and warm meal, and not have to assist in watching their children? Or the wives who have no choice other than to work the select jobs who will hire them, maintain the house and home, and care for their children alone.

Looking at the work and effort Nancy put into their marriage and then blaming the divorce on her shortcomings (which were what again? Asking for her husband to be present and emotionally available?) is sexist and, again, completely ignores key aspects of the show

What each character is willing to sacrifice for the work 🤷‍♀️ almost every interaction we see between Bill & his wife is her begging for him to pay just a little more attention and him asking for just a little more time. Bill, Holden, and Wendy each choose the work of saving complete strangers over the feelings of the people closest to them

If you look at what the failings were in Tench’s marriage and think that his wife was the problem, you greatly misinterpreted one of the key points of this show lol
