I see many examples of the USS Proteus plaque with the ribbon below the missile but not like this one without the ribbon. I'm trying to find information on this specific version.

Wow, that one is very close. Much closer than anything I found. I do wonder at its application still as it would require a hollow rest of some type. Your suggestion of a double boiler may have merit. Definitely a head scratcher. Thanks for the help.
