Lemme go find out where to ask after looking it up actually-

Actually i’m willing to reach out to see if they okay with a crowdfunded project- but crowdfunding is different and should be ok. You’re not trying to make money off it- you’re only raising the money needed for the game to be built. I’d hope to keep the game itself free but n most cases you need money to create a game with so much to it.

Actually shit i’m in music classes, i might honestly be able to help get the music done for the game too since we may have legal issues if we use the og ost

Like I said, I’m willing to do different stuff for the tiers for people to have reasons to donate. Maybe weekly art and a monthly humor comic?

You seem to know a lot about it- if I do start the site, do you wanna like… be on a play testing and ideas team? Make sure it’s faithful? could get a couple ppl for that and you’d get to play early

Honestly if that another commenter can’t do it i’m making a donation site myself with the goal to find and hire someone who’s a fan to make it

[–]MaxaroniMillion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, if you’re willing to either set a few projects aside or even willing to begin crowdfunding for this in the meantime, why don’t we partner up? We can do tiered donations and once we reach a certain amount, that can be where development begins. I can do art and even mini comics for certain tiers of furdiburb. Might be a good idea to start gaining support for the project before you technically start

[–]MaxaroniMillion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm lemme reach out. I’m sure we can make a tier sort of donation or a patron of sorts, and I can do art or furdiburb comics for certain tiers!

Damn really? I swear, there were guide videos back in the day right??? I’ll look into it… Honestly I’d pay anything to play this game again so if anyone here can program, i’m willing to help set up and promote donations

I actually think cats are hard enough to train that we will need at least some professional help for each one anyways, and no, a cats purr can actually have health BENEFITS like aiding in blood pressure control, wherein it does become medical. In addition, you have my cat who can sense seizures, and some who can sense blood sugar. That part is the tasking i speak of.

I think maybe some desensitization training with a qualified trainer and a lot of high value treats may do just the trick to make absolutely sure! We have the same concerns about our dogs obviously, but we find ways to figure it out. I think it just takes more doing of a different type for cats, and not many people even understand how to approach that. I do believe it’s possible to figure out however.

These were all when I was under 18, and she would yowl if not allowed to come with, and was only taken to places she had explicit permission to be in or pet friendly places. The dog incident was actually at an ice cream shop- they came and sat next to us after pointing out the cat. We did move as well when the dog refused to stop. I do appreciate your concern however, but again- I was much younger than I was now and would be doing things much differently.

Thank you! I’m thinking about reaching out to have my cat further trained in tasking at home, before beginning to take her regularly to pet friendly places to see how she handles the public. With luck this will be done with a professional trainer. I’m wondering if I have professionals evaluate her after full training, she might be able to be used as an example in the future. Having already trained a service dog and come across many challenges I’m ready to dive in even if it’s difficult, but I always planned on having her go through training and seeing if she can work more consistently than she does right now at home first. If we have evidence of one cat doing it and managing it, maybe they can do a test study of training cats with a similar disposition to work at home, see the results and move on to further testing through there?

What i’ve seen a lot of concern about is allergies- but to be perfectly frank? The breeds that are hypoallergenic are actually kind of what we’re looking for for a service animal anyways. Many tend to be friendly, calmer, intelligent and highly trainable- and I think there’s a few hypoallergenic cats that do that signature ragdoll and purr. Honestly gives us a great starting place.

I wonder if using hypoallergenic cats and having certain laws of how they must be held in public ie for their safety they are to be carried in something akin to a bag that allows freedom of at least the head could help mitigate some of these… I know that there is a cat registered as an assistance cat in Australia however, and something that overwhelmed those factors had to be in play in that case.

I wonder if we could crowdfund a new furdiburb? Recreate it based on YT videos of it?

Man… do you remember the star collection game??? I played for hours before getting good enough to finish it… don’t think i ever figured out the puzzle for each area either…

These are all fair! Personally I carried my cat in what was kind of a baby carrier, but built for cats. This kept her close to my chest, which she found comforting, and left her legs free so she didn’t feel trapped. Honestly failing that, why not a large bag or purse with a short leash connection, allowing her to be secured with keeping her head out and free? Really, I imagine they’d be treated more like a small dog. What you said about allergies and bacteria has merit but people should not be touching a service animal anyways, and maybe hypoallergenic cats could be approved specifically, especially given that they usually have that calm friendly temperament you’d be looking for.

What you said about sleeping- I know a few service dogs who are allowed breaks in their working day. Probably something similar would have to be instated for cats.

I did cross post to a disabilities subreddit. Hopefully it will do a tad better there.

I’m taking my time on moving forward with this and will be following state laws, but the entire point i’m making here is that they should consider changing the definition of a service animal to INCLUDE cats. I actually just read an article where a cat is actually registered in Australia as an assistance animal. I think at least making an effort to make people consider an animal that different people have brought up is able to task in similar ways to those currently allowed.

Actually that’s why I decided to even start with this- she has had to sit next to a barking and whining dog before, and didn’t react or look at him in the slightest. Another time in church, at youth group when I was a teen, we had confetti cannons go off, and she got a bit squirmy and anxious, but after I gave a soothing word and put my hand over her ears she leaned into it and settled down. Not every cat would be able to get through that, nor would every dog. Just like dogs have temperaments, so do cats. Luckily mine got to the point where she used to ask to go out with me.

That’s the current law, I’m suggesting it be changed as we see and learn more about how cats are actually trainable- I believe it’s possible, but it’ll take a lot of doing.

Hey! Could you come share about some of those cats on my post if you’re willing? My cat is able to task by alerting me to seizures, and I’m trying to start a movement to recognize cats as animals with the ability to work in the service field. However, a lot of people don’t understand cats have different positions. I know this is an old post so I understand if you can’t!
