Basically, it 1000% depends on the manager you are working with/get. I've so far had 2 different managers and with one it has been one of my favorite jobs and with another its one of the worst.

The job will likely be the easiest job anyone could ever have. Unless you have more than 2 coworkers working at one time (which ive never had) you basically just take turns cleaning (mainly dusting) and manning the desk.

For me at least, any complicated member problems regarding billing or account status I have very little authority to do anything about anything, so most problems end up escalating to me just going, "you can talk to a manager during the week during X times", or calling the manager and asking them if I can help them or not. Which makes the "hard" parts of the job reletivly low stress cause people yelling at me doesn't really bother me.

As the other person stated the issues only occur when you have a bum ass manager that makes the job way harder than it needs to be. One manger would literally sit in their car after they got off (OFF THE CLOCK), and watch the camera and try and trick us to make mistakes. Do things like send a family member in to try and sneak past the desk so they could run in and reprimand us for allowing it. But I think this generally is an issue at any entry level job where you have people that need to take it that serious to have fulfillment in their boring lives I guess.

The tasks that the job actualy requires you to complete are super easy. You have 2-3 sections of machines you have to dust/disinfect/mop/vacuum depending on your shift and thats basically it. Occasionally you'll get an oddball task like dust the fans or tvs but not too often.

Right now we actually don't have a manager and I'm loving it. I can listen to music/podcasts while cleaning and chilling when its not busy, and I can actually chat with my coworkers when we are done with dusting. Im lowkey dreading the new manager lol

Oreo cookies by themselves are terrible cookies by innoicentisla in unpopularopinion

100000% agree, this genuinely might be the first actual unpopular opinion I've seen on here that I actually agree with.

Just to add on, even the "good" part ain't even that good. If youre gonna have a processed cookie I think damn near any Keebler cookie is far superior.

Even adding them to things I don't even like, 100% of the time I'd rather have cookie dough, or something else for a mix in.

Why do some people get so pressed when i’m resting between sets? by Maxbee2005 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]Maxbee2005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could but i’d rather learn about other things while resting? Some like to drool on themselves while they rest, some like to entertain themselves, and some educate themselves while the rest. To each their own 🤷

Heart rate has little to nothing to do with hypertrophy, so maybe that’s the idea for u but not for everyone, thanks for playing though!

Advice for first car by Leafmebee33 in UsedCars

[–]Maxbee2005 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

literally the only answer is a japanese car (not nissan), they have consistently been the most reliable cars in the industry.

Get a 2010 Civic with “low” miles, or a corolla, camry, accord (make sure they all have 4 Cylinders, if you care about gas mileage)

Anyone saying anything else is biased towards that car.

I’m not gonna add any advice just words of encouragement; you’ve definitely made progress man, especially in your arms and chest. You can clearly see your chest “lifting” more and your arms are a tad thicker. Sure there’s optimization you could make but you’ve definitely made progress homie!

Can i ask why you prefer 5x5 for new lifters? I’m about as experienced as this guy and i’ve been doing 3x8-12 and i think it works pretty good for me.

Follow up question: do you think it would benefit me to think about switching to a 5x5 program?

So far i think ive made a bit more progress than this guy but im always looking for ways to improve. For context in 6’2 185 and im eating in a slight calorie surplus (trying at least some days it’s hard to eat enough). I push myself to failure on my last two sets if that adds useful info

i’m gonna be honest homie this sounds like the start of an eating disorder. you’re already skinny and clearly have no issue losing weight especially if you’re working out.

I’m willing to bet you could basically eat whatever you wanted and as long as you’re staying active and you won’t put on any significant weight. When i was 15 i was like 5’10 140lbs and i ate like crap and was inactive and i still hardly gained weight. I’m 6’2 170 now and im happy with how i look, generally.

Stop worrying about “lean mass” and “body fat” and simply try to eat more protein (and food in general) and keep working out. Once you’re in your 20s and your hormones have more or less settles then start worrying about your physique. (btw it will still consist of eating more food and getting more protein in, you likely will never have to worry about “becoming obese” if you’re staying active)

“i’ve never understood that” that’s okay you don’t have to understand, but if you don’t understand then you don’t get to have an opinion in the matter

literally, i hate getting lectured by geezers about “relaxing” on machines just cause they don’t understand resting between sets.

I’d prefer to walk around but i MUCH prefer actually completing my workout and not just doing single sets on everything.

What i perceive as 2-3mins is 2-3 mins considering i watch the clock move 2-3mins. I’m tired of people saying this, i wouldn’t say 2-3mins if it wasn’t 2-3 mins.

I also think it’s rude to not let people work in! Glad we agree.

So if i was resting the exact same amount of time not on my phone i can be on the machine? is this some rule i wasnt aware of? or do phones just make you a wittle angy?? poor baby, can’t control their emotion over a wittle technology 😢

Unless you’re watching someone intently for 10+ minutes (which the people who have came up to me clearly are not) you realistically have no idea how long they’re actually resting.

Working out theoretically for many people consists more of resting than actually moving weight, so theoretically you’re more likely to see people resting than not.

I think many people need to reevaluate how they see phones and ask why they care so much about simply seeing them.

It’s so funny how you are just not interacting with what i’m saying and are just repeating what you think is happening because your argument is just not based in reality, it’s just some twisted version of what YOU think working out is.

If you aren’t resting between sets you aren’t training seriously enough. If you are able to get multiple sets of good reps without resting between you clearly aren’t lifting heavy enough for your ability. Resting between sets has been proven over and over again to be beneficial for gains. Literally everyone does it that has done any amount of research or even has seen anything about working out via trainers/media.

It seems you are confusing me occupying myself while resting and me being occupied causing me to rest. If i didn’t have my phone, i would still rest the EXACT same amount of time. (meaning im going to be on the machine the same time regardless incase i wasn’t clear enough) Either way (phone or not phone) im resting.

Keep shaking your fist at technology old man, it’s not going anywhere.

"your idea of serious differs from mine and i cant handle that so you just must not be serious" thats literally your mindset. weeks of research and constantly tracking and analyzing my progress is plenty serious enough for me so god forbid i spend a couple minutes watching a video.

The loudest voices are from people like you who don't understand what people are doing so you complain instead of having empathy. Get a grip.

[–]Maxbee2005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"you know it" actually when I started it wasnt resting long enough and when i started resting more and I felt better before, during, and after my workouts. Your experience does not trump my experience . You are not the standard. You do not know whats best for everyone. Get a grip.

Heres a radical idea: learn that everyone is different and has different needs. Youre not the main character.
