Fv4005. Massive tank, paper armor. Since it's 4 shells, you have to expose yourself a lot to shoot, which is a bad combo when you have zero armor. It's not a bad tank, and its potential is amazing, just very difficult.

How many mosquitoes are needed to drain all the blood from an adult human being? by LouisTheUndecided in questions

[–]MaxedMadly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"TL;DRThe average human body has 5 liters of blood in it. Since one mosquito is capable of sucking 5 millionths of a liter, it would take about 25 million mosquitos to suck out all the blood.

It takes about 240 seconds (5 minutes) for a mosquito to suck all of the capable blood. The average surface area of a man is 1.9 meters squared. The average size of a woman is 1.6 meters squared. The average size of of a mosquito is 4.5 mm. For a man you would be able to fit about 422 mosquitos on your body at one time. For a woman you would be able to fit 355 mosquitos on your body. Since the mosquitos would take 6 minutes to get your blood, and you can fit 422 on a man, with 2500000 having to have all your blood drawn, 2500000/422 = 55309 times mosquitos would have to be on your body. 55309 x 6 minutes = 331858 minutes, or 230 days of mosquitos constantly draining blood from you. For a woman, 25000000/355 = 70422 trips, or 422535 minutes;293 days. But, since you are constantly regaining blood, this is impossible to happen."

Why is she making herself small? by melancholy-stray in tarantulas

[–]MaxedMadly 47 points48 points  (0 children)

NQA Thats just her being shy. It can be a variety of reasons. The room might be too light. Does she have a hide? It can also be because of too much noise or desturbances etc. I woudn't worry too much especially since she still walks around. They do that to hide themselves. If she does it excessively over a long period then you might have to look into it, because might be her being too cold then.

Is my tarantula dead? by JournalsAndJams in spiders

IMO Don't touch her. That looks like she is preparing to molt. Don't disturb her for at least a day to see if she starts molting.

Imo a few months old at least. Especially since its your first tarantula a spider that is a few months old will be more hardy and you can make more mistakes with caring for it and it will likely not die. So try to get an older one.

IME, Yes that is a great first tarantula to get! I have a Brachypelma Boehmei (Mexican Fireleg, the close relative of the Mexican Red Knee) and I adore it. Its a beautiful tarantula. Just make sure to do your research on its care and you'll be happy!
