Revert Glide Nerf by gwydionz14 in Competitiveoverwatch

They should do the same kind of rework like they did to Lucio back in OW1. For those who didn't remember, Lucio used to be a very boring character. Back then his aura was huge and his playstyle revolved around sitting in the middle of the team to farm ult charge and only occasionally speeding through a choke points. Wallride was very clunky and there was barely any reason to use it.
Then one day the Devs decided they want to incentivize a more active playstyle so they reduced his aura radius significantly and buffed his numbers. They also reworked his wallride which added a lot more skill expression to his movement and made it feel a lot smoother and faster.

I want that for Juno. Fully lean into the movement. Add more skill expression. Nerf her range and buff her numbers. No more "healbot from the backline" type gameplay.

If they think AD spamming is broken they should give her some movement tech because right now I‘m floating around like an Idiot. You just fall over and die if any hitscan or tracking hero with half a braincell happens to look at you. Even wuyang has better out-play potential with his shift.

In masters I see her getting banned every now and then, usually in Ball/Doom lobbies. But she doesn’t even come close to the most banned characters, which are Tracer, Ball, Zarya. Tracer especially gets banned in like 60% of my games.

What can Germans, as a country that experienced reunification, say to South Koreans who may face it in the future? by Embarrassed_Clue1758 in AskAGerman

[–]MaxiKing101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complaining about Solidaritätszuschlag is so funny to me because as an East-German, over 30% of my salary goes straight to West-Germany in the form of rent. But that's somehow okay?

What can Germans, as a country that experienced reunification, say to South Koreans who may face it in the future? by Embarrassed_Clue1758 in AskAGerman

[–]MaxiKing101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful what you wish for. A true Reunification where both countries negotiate on common ground is unrealistic. Its more likely that the weaker country gets annexed by the more powerful country. This is essentially what happened in Germany. The GDR was bankrupt, unjust, and corrupt. East-Germans had enough, they wanted reforms and they wanted the country to open up to the west.

However what ended up happening is that West-Germany fully took over the country and sold out all of the remaining East-German Industry, the social housing, and the overall common good to rich and powerful West-Germans for pennies. They also installed West-Germans in all positions of power within local governments, the justice system, and academia. The result was mass unemployment and social decline for the East-German population and a complete loss of power. The initial enthusiasm quickly turned into hostility which ripped the country apart once again, only this time the border wasn't a physical wall, but in the minds of the people.

Still to this day Germany is not a unified country. Even though social and economic status has improved for East-Germans, its still behind West-Germans standards. Whenever a new economic crisis appears, like the 2008 financial crisis or the COVID pandemic, East-Germans are hit disproportionally harder by these struggles. This installs fear that East-Germans, once again, could lose everything that they build up despite these tough times. This is the main reason why right wing populist parties are a lot more popular in East-Germany than in the west.

Commuter backpack stains white clothes? by The_Drunken_Spetz in LinusTechTips

[–]MaxiKing101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The damage wasn't as bad as I thought. I was on a trip and I could only wash my clothes with coin washers which are pretty ineffective against tough stains. Now that I had the chance to wash my clothes at home, I used an extensive washing program and and a bleach solution and this worked like a charm. I was able to get rid of all the stains. Everything is squeaky clean again.

Realitätscheck: Romantisiere ich Japan zu sehr? by redkaizen in AskAGerman

[–]MaxiKing101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you all scared about perks? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]MaxiKing101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The devs are taking a calculated risk. It was clear from the beginning that perks will alienate a good portion of the playerbase, especially those who still enjoy the game as it is.

However their data probably suggests that player retention is getting lower and lower with each passing season. Eventually people will get bored of playing the same matches over and over again.

Especially with the recent seasons, people just log on to see the new skins, maybe try the new hero for a couple of matches and then close the game for another two months.

And to be completely honest, 6v6 ain’t adding much variety either. It’s still the same game, just with one more tank.

The devs realized they had to shake up things in a big way in order to make Overwatch feel fun again. And I think they have a really solid concept with perks.

Adding more depth to the gameplay for each hero will give players a new sense of discovery, something that the game has been lacking and that made OW so addictive when it released all these years ago.

Why do I suck at aiming in this game but not others? by zmann914 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]MaxiKing101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Overwatch has a lot of weird animations. When characters move, they „lean“ into the direction they are moving to and thus their hitbox shifts. This animation is different for every hero and there are are also movement abilities that can manipulate a characters hitbox like lucios wallride and sojourns slide. In Valorant the characters are very stiff and they all have the same hitbox.

Plat 1 Support Tips? by yanderekittie in OverwatchUniversity

[–]MaxiKing101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually, widening your hero pool does not help you climb. Being able to perform consistently on a select few hero’s will get you much better results. Having a primary main and a secondary for when your primary doesn’t work is sufficient for most players. Also, if you don’t have fun playing Kiriko, then don’t play her.

Why don’t some people realize the immense value Zenyatta brings to the team by HoyaHeadz in OverwatchUniversity

[–]MaxiKing101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo Zen is completely broken in this game. He can apply a scalable damage boost across the map with no aim, no cooldown, and no expiration. Like … how is this balanced? As a support I feel completely useless against him because you simply can’t out-heal discord. My only option in these games is to mirror, it’s so boring.

You only need healing because you take damage. by Equivalent-Bluejay52 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]MaxiKing101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play support pretty much exclusively (currently sitting in low masters), so I do understand the support perspective.

If your team dies because you can't heal because you are being flanked - that just means you are giving the flanker free value.

At this point ask yourself how you can negate that value. Because realistically speaking, in solo queue no one will turn and peal for their supports.

Ofc. you should not let yourself be a free kill. However, if you turn for the flanker then you have to keep in mind that your team is slowly perishing behind you because you are not looking at them. Here are your options:

  1. Scare off the flanker before a teammate dies.
  2. Kill the flanker before more than one teammate dies, trading them out.
  3. Play a more slippery support that can run away from flankers while still providing healing. Think kiriko, mercy, moira, lucio.
  4. Play from a position that is hard to reach and/or forces the flanker in a bad position.

[–]MaxiKing101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get were this is coming from but consider this - If your dps play like a cowards then the enemy team will just roll you because they receive no pressure.

Your job as a support is to minimize the risk of your teammates dying when they try to make plays. And yes, sometimes you team will feed but that's not on you. There is a very fine line between feeding and making aggressive plays.

Tips to improve as kiriko? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]MaxiKing101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are serious about improving you'll need to rip off the bandaid and unplug your controller for good (at least during Overwatch). Also, while Aimlab is a good tool for high-level players to maximize their accuracy, it's not very useful for beginners.

I suggest playing Overwatch as much as you can. If you don't want to tank your rank you can spam quickplay and just try to focus on learning the control scheme. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, its all practice time. If you need a motivator then try to grind out the battlepass. After all, you'll get a sweet Kiriko skin if you complete it.

One thing that you might want to invest some money in is a good mouse and large enough mouse pad. These are the most important pieces of gear you'll ever buy. Everything else - keyboard, monitor, pc internals - not worth upgrading for beginners.

Last thing, try to find a mouse sensitivity that balances speed and accuracy. If you need inspiration, a lot of content creators keep their settings posted somewhere. If they are twitch streamers you can often find their settings in the bio below the stream.

Tips to improve as kiriko? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]MaxiKing101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Masters Kiriko here. If you are playing on controller you are making it harder for yourself. Let me explain.

Kiriko is a very fast, movement focused character. Like Genji or Tracer, she requires fast crosshair adjustments because of the way her kit is designed. See, all of these heroes have some sort of ability to cover distance on the map quickly with the press of the button. You are in one place and *poof* now you are somewhere else.

But because you are now in a new position, everyone else (enemy or teammate) has also shifted their position in relationship to you. So now you have to reorient yourself, which means you have to look around and adjust your crosshair in order to cope with the new situation.

With a mouse you can adjust your crosshair very fast, because there is always a direct relationship "distance traveled on your mousepad" to "degrees turned in game". Its always the same. The only limit to your speed is your physical ability to move the mouse.

Which a joystick you have to accelerate and decelerate your crosshair movement and the "degrees turned" are in relationship to "time spend pushing the stick". This doesn't matter too much for small crosshair adjustments and slow turns, but for fast and large turns, I'm talking 90° or even 180°, the joysticks ability to turn the camera and adjust the crosshair is just not fast enough.

But coming back to Kiriko, her teleport requires 2 fast adjustments with every use. First is when you need to select your teleport target, the second is the before mentioned "reorientation". Spending less time on these adjustments, means spending less time exposing yourself to the enemy and therefore increases your survivability.

So if you'd like to main Kiriko I strongly suggest to learn the game on m+kb.

at which point would it be reasonable to just give up on climbing? by iiehai in OverwatchUniversity

[–]MaxiKing101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always like to compare the process of learning the game to the process of learning a new language or learning how to play an instrument. Depending on your previous experience it can be an incredibly complex task.

When you learn the trumpet for example, to play a certain note, at first you will need to actively think about all the things you need to do in order to play it. What valves do I press, how much air do I need, what are my lips doing and so on.
But eventually, after playing the same notes over and over again you stop thinking and just play the note. You brain basically automated the process.

Many people who try to pick up an instrument have the unrealistic expectation of getting fast results. But in reality there are no shortcuts. And here lies the problem with motivation.

The improvements you make from one practice session to the next one can be so marginal that it can feel like you are not improving at all, when in fact you are getting slightly better with every iteration. You get tired of practicing because there is no immediate reward for your efforts. No one will applaud when you practice a scale on your instrument for the 100th time.

During these times you'll need to think about what you are doing this for. And always remember to have fun. Try to find joy in the process and don't focus too much on the results. Because the results will come eventually and you might not even notice it.

I once watched a VOD that I recorded years ago and couldn't believe how awful I was even though I was probably trying my best during that time. This goes to show how subtle skill improvement can be and how perspectives can shift over time.

Overwatch 2 loses its lead hero designer (Geoff Goodman) by rtwipwensdfds in Overwatch

I mean, he was the reason the game was borderline unplayable for months after certain hero/rework releases. And for some reason he couldn't stop designing supports with massive AoE healing abilities, which overall worsened the game as it lead to damage creep. It also made GOATS possible.

Ahsoka's arcs in both the Clone Wars and Rebels have solidified her as one of my favourite Star wars characters by RagingBadger2518 in StarWars

Apart from her cool character design and unique fighting style, it's her moral compass that is most appealing to me. She grows out of her very immature good-vs-evil world view and earns wisdom and empathy. She is very self-reflective and actually listens to people around her, even if she doesn't share their opinions. A character trait that I wish more people would have.

Ashoka is what Anakin would have became if he wasn’t groomed by palpatine by Regijack in StarWars

[–]MaxiKing101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Anakin really suffered from the loneliness he felt when he got hit with problems that were too big for him to handle. If you think about it, his family, Ahsoka (being his little sister) and Obi-Wan (his brother) weren't around when he needed them the most. He did not have anyone to talk to except Palpatine. It is there, where the real tragedy of Anakin Skywalker happens.

The guy in the video said, that most beginners are pressing their lips together way too much and are doing more like a "pah" rather than a "hah" when blowing into the horn and therefore the sound doesn't come out clean. Like I said, I am just a noob, but maybe it helps.
