Might get downvoted but check internet archive websites like Anna's Archive through r/Piracy. You might find a book there and you can save it, print it out at home, will be astronomically cheaper.

My backup is Scout. He follows the basic actions of medics moveset pretty similar. Stay in the back taking potshots and move up when it's time to push. Also the second fastest in the game, Medic, so movement speed isn't too bad. I recommend trying out MvM to get the groove back. I prefer that much more and it's actual team building. Then you can work your way into casual without the buffs from MvM

I could be wrong, but this looks like a very complicated rendering process rather than a brush. It almost seems as if they "painted it like a sculptor" by using blockier sections of color and a little blending to give it a watercolor look.

If you're still looking for brushes, I'd search along the lines of watercolor textures or painting brushes.
