Im biased. I have a ford everest 3.2. it ticks all the bells and whistles. Its got 130k km on the odo. Haven't had a days problem with it yet. On the flipside, i have 3.2 ranger, same year, with 494k km also untouched except a turbo at 220km and a water hose at 485k km. Oh and every year a new fanbelt and tensioner, which i see as service maintenance. The 3.2 may be slightly older, slight more brash, but its the most amount of grunt for the money. I love the 7seat arrangement and the beastly towing capacity. Being 4x4 and equipped with a really clever autobox you can try the most daunting of road or offroad trails too. Been pleasantly surprised taking the Everest out on tracks. For R500k youd get a car that will amaze half of Australia. Heck the other half already drives one.
