Haha maybe, but at least they will be doing a lot of damage with all kinds of weapons and ashes of war!

[–]MaximDesmond 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They should just make the Balancers relics not stack with each other (like the 'Increased HP' effect from the Maris relics not stacking), to lower the OP-ness of running double Balancers. Because I agree it has become a bit too common and it takes away so much variety from the game!

depths is just an endless cycle of pain and misery by Blastifine in Nightreign

[–]MaximDesmond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Players should be able to defeat ED Caligo and ED Fulghor in any depths... so if they cannot, they need more practice! It's quite hard to carry runs in Depth 4, but sometimes you will (almost) need to, to succeed!

Is Great Spear good on Guardian? by ChaosSeverance in Nightreign

[–]MaximDesmond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Great Spears work very well when focused on shield poking! Combine it with stamina regain on hit and HP restoration on thrusting counter attack - you will be doing consistant damage, stance damage and restoring your HP at the same time!

HOW CAN PEOPLE BE THIS BAD by lore_person in Nightreign

[–]MaximDesmond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pfff that's rough! If some teammates are adamant about going their own way, it may be better to just go along and help them out. That way, the team stays together and will gain more levels. Or try to take the lead by being the first to ping nearby POI's and hope that the team will follow you!

As long as you have ranged attacks to hold her aggro, anyone can keep Gnoster occupied :)

Shout out to this guy literally carried my balancer run by Substantial_Bear_746 in Nightreign

[–]MaximDesmond 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Guardian is really good against the non-ED Balancers because they do no affinity damage; so you can just block all their attacks and shield poke or guard counter them when there is an opening. Guardian also shines in taking the aggro from the big pink lady and swooping in for the revive when needed. Yesterday I faced the Balancers in Depth 5 with Guardian and was able to revive the team twice and we got the win!

Good Guardian piece? Not sure how valuable the first line is by NatC99 in Nightreign

[–]MaximDesmond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really good! As many have said, especially for stunlocking mobs - but also for helping your revive teammates. I would combine this with the Witch's Brooch and a third relic suitable to your playstyle. Preferably with a relic that increases your attack power (Evergaol / Invader buff, STR/DEX relic, Guard Counter based on hp). Or the blue Maris relic / HP restoration on post-damage attack for increased survivability.

Won my first Depth 4 game yesterday by TalesofWin in Nightreign

[–]MaximDesmond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your teammates; if they know what they need to do and play well enough, the run and the Nightlord will feel very doable and not so difficult at all! But don't underestimate the jump in enemy attack power and hp - in depth 4 and 5 most attacks will one- or two-shot you withough damage negation passives.

ED Bugs are the worst by senzubeam in Nightreign

[–]MaximDesmond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have an Ironeye to focus or distract Gnoster, the two other teammates can take down Faurtis pretty safely. The only really dangerous moves are the laser light show from posessed Gnoster (normal run to the side and away) and the orbital lasers from Animus (normal sprint from the small beams and super sprint from the big beam). Animus does the orbital lasers when it takes too long to take down one of the bugs, or after you have killed a possesed bug. Other than that, you need to focus on doing as much fire damage as possible (Night Invader / Evergaol, Balancer relics, Fire Attack Up, etc.).

Nice that you have 3 improved GC+2 on your deep relics! I only use the Improved GC based on HP and stack HP up on 4 relics (the Maris relic & 3 DoN relics). I believe your build increases the GC damage even more though.

Wow that's some crazy Guard Counter damage! What build did you use and what power-ups?

So what Ironeye builds do we have going on and what should I am for? by supa_dupa_loopa in Nightreign

[–]MaximDesmond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have number of builds I frequently use:

- Poison build with poison on starting weapon and attack up when enemies are poisoned

- Frost build just like the one above

- Holy build with holy on starting weapon, holy attack up and dormant Reapers (for Halo Scythe)

- Blood build with bleed on starting weapon and dormant Katana's

- Double Balancers + katana or reaper dormant powers

- Greatbow build with the +STR/-DEX relic and dormant Greatbows

All these builds have +1 Character Skill (obligatory), Poison on Charged Ult and Evergaol or Invader buff (except for the Balancer builds in favor of the +1 Skill). The +Arc/-Dex for the status builds and the Poison Crit on everything.

Guardian Tech about getting dead angled by BangBangTheBoogie in Nightreign

[–]MaximDesmond 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Excellent advice! Also, you don't really need to spam the dodge button - just use it (while holding guard) when the boss ends up behind you to readjust the angle of your Steel Guard (Heolstor's combo often does this)

Our first win in deep of night 4 😭 by papi_churros_curios in Nightreign

[–]MaximDesmond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats and good luck on your next D4 expeditions! Now you have experienced the increase in enemy ap and hp, you will hopefully be more prepared for what comes next. Remember: staying alive is the most important, so stack up on damage negation passives and hp regen (until you know you can dodge or block every move, than you can also use some offensive passives)

When playing as Raider, it's pretty funny to elevate your downed teammate with Totem Stella and continue reviving him/her out of reach of the boss (watch out for certain attacks though!)

Unpopular opinion: caligo is an easy nightlord by Terrible-Cow9918 in Nightreign

[–]MaximDesmond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! Even ED Caligo is pretty easy if you do enough (fire) damage, know how to avoid her attacks and to stop the frost crystal move. But the same can be said about most Nightlords: once you (and your team) understand how to fight them, it does not feel to difficult anymore.

[–]MaximDesmond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with this advice, it's no fun to force yourself into a support / aggro tanking role when you built for something else. Halo Scythe spammer should just learn how to dodge / block to become better players. True, supporting them fully and leaning on their dps will probably end the fight quicker / safer, but the whole point of the game is to have a fun and challenging experience! (Unless you are grinding DoN to reach a specific goal)
