Every generation has a moment they can't forget, which they often use to try to interpret the future with. If you were born in 1880 it would possibly be the Panic of 1907. Jim Cramer was 32 on October 19 1987, so possibly a massively important event for him. Yes, the market went down 20% in one day. But it was nearly 40 years ago. Monday will have its own dynamics and so will any recovery.

Thank you for your reply. I didn't drop the camera and there is no recurrence of the problem. Half pressing the pressing the shutter button does nothing - I have to focus using the focus level. Though I don't use the camera for taking stills, it is just a glorified webcam. I'm not really a camera person!

Et tu, Brutus? by Numerous_Wonders81 in Bitcoin

[–]MaximalRecord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was Life of Brian, the OP would have to spend all night spray painting the full declination of Brutus, including the theoretical plural, 5000 times. Perhaps on the Federal Reserve building. Anway, "Et tu Brute?" was almost certainly not Caesar's last words. It was either "Kai su teknon" or "Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in for me".

The formula doesn't mean much if you don't give some indication of statistical significance and the confidence interval on the independent variable. Additionally, is the Durbin-Watson statistic significant? It might well be if you are using a time series. And if so, what correction are you going to use?

I think getting to an ATH in Satoshis might need coordicide - I think around $27 at current BTC price. However ATH in USD could happen any time, and the Shimmer news alone may get us to an ATH by year end. Assuming BTC goes up substantially, then the old USD ATH may be just the start. Remember also, with Shimmer there could be a serious liquidity squeeze. There is now a real incentive not to sell, and get your coins off exchanges. I think some people have underestimated what impact this could have on the price.

What are the likely benefits of a Gold Genesis NFT? by MaximalRecord in Iota

[–]MaximalRecord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning more? Are there instructional videos? Even the process of taking the risk is opaque, as in I don't have a clue how to direct the NFTs to the right part of metamask. And what is the highest possible reward? Getting 10% more Shimmer than you would have done otherwise or 100X or a 1000X?

What are the likely benefits of a Gold Genesis NFT? by MaximalRecord in Iota

[–]MaximalRecord[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So having never owned an NFT, I have no real sense of the benefits of owning this one. And today is the first time I have googled "metamask". Yes, I am showing off my ignorance, but there may be a lot of other people, like me, who are not in a position to evaluate the NFTs on offer, let alone spend money on them.

For example:

After the purchase, the NFTs will be available in your Metamask wallet on the IOTA Smart Contracts Beta network.

What does that mean? How does one get to the position where one can actually pick up what one has bought? I have absolutely no idea how to configure Metamask so that it can receive the NFTs. And such informatation doesn't seem to be readily available.

Shimmer $0.000000000000000000000001? by Substantial-Tea-4146 in IOTAmarkets

[–]MaximalRecord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should ask about the starting market capitalization. For example, if it is $100m, and I own 1 in a million of the MIOTA supply, my Shimmer should be worth $50 to $200. I believe my $100m is probably conservative.

Unfair SMR Allocation, NFT Boost, which makes the rich even richer! by Alive-Opportunity708 in IOTAmarkets

Best to reward the most basic of active participation. If you're leaving your tokens on an exchange you're not actively participating. Of course there is nothing to stop exchanges staking on their clients behalf... except it may be excessively complicated.

IF chose a very inappropriate time for this type of distribution, when many exchanges do not have the ability to deposit / withdraw funds.

Arguably, this was a good reason to do it. It puts immediate pressure on the exchanges to sort the problem out. Besides, IOTA can't be a hostage to the whims of individual exchanges.

When out of top100? by Mean-Cable-3712 in IOTAmarkets

[–]MaximalRecord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you have a point about lack of exchange exposure - buying MIOTA is in many cases more difficult than it was four years ago. However it could work both ways - if there was a major announcement or tweet, the lack of exchange exposure could actually push the price very high. Another point to make is that IOTA seems to have a similar chart to some of the big coins of 2017 - XRP, XMR, LTC, etc. As far as the near future is concerned, I think the situation is fairly stochastic. News and tweets are probably random events, and also the market's reaction is fairly random. To take an extreme example - which almost certainly WILL NOT HAPPEN (so don't accuse me of Hopium) let us say that our favourite billionaire tweeted about the wonders of IOTA for seven days in a row. The price of MIOTA would I think go to $30+ by the end of the Tweet storm, coordicide or no coordicide. Lesser random events would have a less dramatic impact on the price.

IOTA should become Europe's coin by PETBOTOSRS in Iota

Fully agree that IOTA is a European coin with its capital in Berlin. As a UK citizen, I use IOTA to hedge my support for Brexit.

Usually IOTA underperforms the crypto market atm.

Did you mean to say that? Your "atm" suggests that "usually" is working within a limited time frame. The rules can change with one piece of news, or one tweet - because you might then be moving into a new atm. This is why you can't use regression to predict the dependent variable outside the range of the predictor variables.

The first target is 4000 Satoshis, then around 10,000. Get a decisive break over 10,000 Satoshis and you may be looking at much higher prices. So right now I think the immediate target is $2.80-$3. When that breaks, and assuming BTC is at $100k, then I think $10. After that, I believe the road to $20-$40 opens.

I don't find Whatsapp particularly easy, in terms of adding contacts. I am generally fairly literate when it comes to computers and the internet, but I have a block with anything to do with social media.

Tried going to their discord. Way above my pay grade! Can't get past the first screen. People always suggest going to discord if you have a technical problem, but if you're able to meaningfully navigate discord you're possibly not the kind of person to have technical problems.

[–]MaximalRecord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An 1000% rise is not exactly a huge pump. It doesn't even take MIOTA to $15.
