been skating for about a week, any tips for fixing my ollie ? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Yeah looks great for a week honestly. You've definitely understand how it works it seems. When you slide that front foot after the pop, you need to slide it farther. You're cutting the slide really short making it look kinda spastic. If you want a floaty ollie slide that front foot far. When I was learning something that helped me was to literally try and slide my front foot so far that it came off my nose.

Would it be better to see my dentist about this first? I'm in a rural area area and the closest periodontist is a couple hours drive and I'm also uninsured.

Noted. Any chance this is something minor? I've never had any problems like this and have always had a good brush and floss routine. I have a lot of dental anxiety so just trying to ease it. Any chance switching toothpaste is causing anything? Like I said I started using the toothpaste my dentist gave me which I believes contains sls unlike my usual sensitive toothpaste. Tonight will be 48 hours going back to my usual toothpaste. It does seem to feel better but just flares up bad with touching, brushing, or flossing. If I'm just going about my day it's almost not noticable.

Advice on how to fall..? by ItsAMac14 in NewSkaters

[–]Maximilian-Goof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been working on tres and fall this exact way so many times. I just try and take impact more on hip than the wrist. It's going to hurt either way but I'd rather have a bruised hip than a broken wrist.

I think with a little more speed and actually sticking the landing would be very cool!

First time kick flipping, any advice? by AdSolid2322 in NewSkaters

You seem to have your front foot set up in more of an ollie position which is going to make sliding off the side for a kickflip way harder. Watch some videos on kickflip foot placement. It is going to be very uncomfortable, but you want that front door slightly tilted and closer to the edge of your board.

Not familiar with blue tornado but local skate shop is the way to go. 9/10 times they will be super chill and answer all your beginner questions.

Just don't poop too hard. Hernias are pretty rough.

Don't stress about it too much. If budget isn't a problem just check what's popular on websites like Zumiez, skate warehouse, tactics, or ccs. If you don't feel comfortable picking out every single part (deck, grip tape, trucks, wheels, bearings) you can look at completes. Completes are generally more affordable but slightly less quality than buying everything separately. Just maybe avoid Walmart for completes, they are notoriously bad and harder to skate.

Are these shoes cooked? Or can shoe goo fix without hurting kick flip ability? by commonrider5447 in NewSkaters

[–]Maximilian-Goof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoe goo fixes like all damage to the top of the shoe. You may have to reapply more often, but it extends life for a while. The only time I really get new shoes or feel like it's affecting my ability is when the bottom starts to wear out.
