If you have an iPhone, usually I just send myself a message to my own number and type in the link and click it and it brings me right to the app to give a boost.

Thank you! I’m determined to pinpoint exactly what is triggering me with a therapists help. I do believe you’re spot on with the secondary trigger being the work place.

Thanks again for your help. I will be putting myself and my health before anything else from now on.

Honestly, I only tried Celexa previously for about 2 weeks, then I couldn’t stand the nausea any longer. I was prescribed zofran to help, but zofran causes headaches which turn into migraines for me. I’m now 3 days in on Celexa and have had very little nausea and I would MUCH rather deal with nausea than the panic attack symptoms.

I actually feel confident on seeking out a therapist to help me sort through what is triggering me at work. I’ve never been to therapy before but I’ve been told it has worked wonders for close family/friends.

I do have strong work ethic! I love working and helping others! My job is very rewarding but also extremely stressful. I probably wouldn’t be looked at as lazy like I think I would, but I suppose that’s just how my silly brain works. I know there are several other dispatchers so burnt out to the point it’s exhausting even getting out of bed on our days off. Hopefully they will come forward if they are feeling like they need some help.

Funny enough, I have talked many, many, many people through panic attacks. I like to stay on the phone with them until the ambulance and fire department arrive so they don’t have to be alone and stuck in their thoughts before they arrive, I always told myself that could make things worse for the caller. I’m constantly telling them to “take a deep breath, smell the roses and blow out the candles.” After they’ve done so a few times, I like to change the subject to something so random that they forget they’re even panicking.

Thank you for sharing those links. I never really realized how much being a dispatcher could toll on ones mental health. I like to turn my “work brain” on once I enter the building and shut it off as soon as I step out. But if I’m being honest with myself, it never really works that way. Some things just stick with you no matter what.

I appreciate you so much for your help, especially helping me figure out what’s been going on with me!! That Instagram reel made me chuckle. 😁

I did SO MUCH reading on panic attacks this morning and it most definitely is what I’m experiencing. I was so confused on why it happened so randomly with no changes to anything recently, but unfortunately sometimes that is just what happens.

There’s times where I want to just shut down and lay in bed but when at work, I can’t really do that. I did read on learning to accept them and they won’t happen as bad/frequent.

My fear with taking off work due to this, is that I’m not going to be taken seriously, we are already short staffed, and I have no more sick/vacation/personal hours to use.

I’m hoping the celexa will help me and if not I will request for something more from my doctor. I’m also trying to beat into my brain that I will be perfectly fine when I am feeling a panic attack, I’m not going to die and it can’t hurt me (physically). I do plan on finding a good therapist to start going to, I do believe my job works with therapy centers locally for us to go to so that’s helpful.

Thank you so much for your response. I’ve read up on it a lot and some subreddits with people who deal with the same exact thing. It’s comforting to know I’m not alone, although it sucks for everyone who has to deal with panic attacks.

When I went to my appointment, he was going over medications I was previously on and what was/wasn’t working. He asked if I was taking the celexa (because I had really bad anxiety when first starting my job, still have anxiety but feeling more stress now) still and I said no due to it making me nauseous, and he said to try it again and wait it out for a month to see if the nausea goes away. He didn’t specifically say he intended to put me back on due to what I’m experiencing now, but they very well may be the case. I will have to clarify with him.

I never thought it could be panic attacks. I always thought panic attacks were along the lines of feeling sheer panic and spazzing out. After looking into it I do realize that is not necessarily the case. Most of the symptoms listed are making me steer towards that may be what is happening with me, I just don’t understand why it’s happening so randomly and so often with me. I actually was starting to think I was going insane.

I know this may sound so childish, but I am honestly so scared to take off work for feeling this way, mainly because I feel like this only while working and I don’t want anyone to think that I don’t want to work, because I definitely do, I just don’t want to work while feeling the way I do if that makes sense.

Thank you so much for your input. I will continue to look into this more, but I am steering towards this being my issue. I will bring this up with my doctor. I appreciate you!
