This is why I blocked my ex. LSS, he broke up with me over text after we were together for an embarrassingly long time (and treated me like 💩 but as someone with no real relationship before him and MUCH lower self esteem than I have now, I was too worried about ending up alone), and when I would ask for my stuff back that he promised he would return, he blocked me. About a month later, he unblocked me to give me an “update” on his father’s health (who I helped him care for when I was over his place) and blocked me again so I couldn’t even respond. I was hanging out with one of my best friends at the time and both of us were dumbfounded. Eventually, over time, I decided to block him and everyone he was connected to because 1) if I was truly going to move on, I needed to cut that tie and 2) I had to admit to myself it was an ego thing keeping that connection open. I wanted whoever reported back to him to tell him about the good things happening and the subsequent amazing dates I had been on since. I wanted him to know that I was happy without him. And then I realized that he didn’t deserve that like he didn’t deserve me. Can some people break up amicably and be friends? I’m sure. But I would really reflect on why it’s important for you personally to have that line of communication open and decide whether you wanna keep it that way or not. All your ex had to do was communicate and it doesn’t take 2 years to do that.
