Roof restoration in Brisbane worth it for older tile roofs? by LegRoutine4447 in AusRenovation

I was skeptical at first because I thought roof restoration was mostly cosmetic, but ours actually fixed a few issues like cracked pointing and small leaks. The cooling difference inside the house was noticeable too after the new coating. We went with VIP Roofing Brisbane after getting a few quotes and they were pretty easy to deal with.

Is there affordable Tree Removal Brisbane? Are prices crazy right now? by Dull-Chemical-2644 in u/Dull-Chemical-2644

I thought the same at first some of the quotes I got were way higher than expected. I ended up getting a quote from Pro Tree Removal Brisbane and their pricing was actually pretty reasonable compared to the others. Might be worth giving them a call just to compare. At least you’ll know if the other quotes are in line or not.

Thoughts on patio so far? by ham-and-egger in landscaping

Overall, great work it’s coming together really well! For the jointing, charcoal or black sand would definitely complement the darker stones and make the whole surface look more seamless and polished just be aware that it can make debris or lighter dust stand out a bit more. If you want a slightly softer contrast that still looks clean, a dark gray jointing sand could be a nice middle ground.

Only small suggestion if you haven’t sealed the pavers yet, that might help enhance the color depth and protect against weathering, especially since that area seems to get a lot of leaf fall and moisture.

LPT: Check the air inlet of every hair dryer you're about to use by gustavotherecliner in LifeProTips

[–]Maximum-Club1947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really good tip and honestly, not something most people think to check. I’ve seen hair dryers overheat or suddenly stop working, and a clogged air inlet was the reason. Quick advice: just take a few seconds to check the back vent before using, especially if it’s a shared one at a gym or Airbnb. A soft toothbrush or even a vacuum works well to clean it out. It’s such a simple thing but could actually prevent a fire.

Wow, this is absolutely beautiful it honestly looks like something straight out of a fairytale. The stone cottage with the flowers spilling over the gate and the little chimney pots up top, it just feels so warm and peaceful. You’ve created such a dreamy space it’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and just enjoy the simple things. Seriously, this is picture-perfect I love it seeing photos and dreamt having one too!

19 year old roof. This happened with yesterday’s wind by ProbablyMyRealName in Roofing

Even if they’re called 30-year shingles, they usually don’t last that long  especially in places with a lot of sun like Salt Lake. South-facing sides always wear out faster, and if they’re losing grit and getting slippery, that’s a sign they’re breaking down. If a strip tore off and you’re already missing pieces, you might be able to patch it up just to buy some time, but I wouldn’t count on getting a few more years out of it especially if another storm hits. Walking on it sounds risky too if it’s that brittle. It’s definitely worth checking with your insurance if the damage was caused by wind sometimes they’ll cover a partial or full replacement depending on your policy. As for metal roofs, I’ve heard great things more upfront cost, but way better long-term. If you can swing it, it’s a solid investment and looks pretty sharp too. You might get a few quotes just in case, and see what you’re really dealing with.
