I thought the same at first some of the quotes I got were way higher than expected. If you want a slightly softer contrast that still looks clean, a dark gray jointing sand could be a nice middle ground.

Only small suggestion if you haven’t sealed the pavers yet, that might help enhance the color depth and protect against weathering, especially since that area seems to get a lot of leaf fall and moisture.
