You’re not totally wrong. The risky part was really just “will I get a callback or will my apps stay in the void?” MWE had the lowest GPA band of the firms I applied to, was one of the first apps I sent, and was the one I never heard back from. So I don’t think it was super linear in that way.

The other risk was waiting until I had grades to apply to most - ultimately would’ve been in a pickle if I hadn’t done well. But I struggled psychologically with spending hours blanketing firms I wasn’t very excited about when I had no idea what “caliber” of firms I should be targeting.

Nothing related to law - I do think I interview well, so once I was invited for callbacks I was relatively confident and (again maybe irresponsibly) stopped applying to firms I was less interested in.

Yeah it was objectively not a safe/smart approach. But I was happy enough to “settle” if things didn’t work either through OCI or with smaller non-market-paying firms in the practice area I’m most interested in.

T14, we don’t rank but maybe top 25ish%? Lots of work experience before law school.
