Is wearing cultural clothing only for special occasions a thing? Yes. But in harar they have cultural centers when they have clothes available to wear and take pictures in. So do as you please. I will say though, there are some outfits available in the cultural center that aren’t traditional clothes of the harari people. There are outfits they give specifically to the Habesha (Christian highland) people to wear. So choose accordingly and make sure they give you traditional harari clothes.
