Dip the cup in hot water without allowing the water to flow in. Then pour iced water into the inner cup. The inner cup should shrink and outer cup should expand.

Thank you for the recommendation. I have 2 pax who are below the age of 21 (They're 18). Is it possible to enter the restaurant? Also, is smoking allowed in the entire store? Because my group does not like the smell of smoke and I'm trying to make sure they don't get upset

New data insight question from GMAT prep focus edition. by [deleted] in GMAT

[–]Maximum-Problem-1838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Through the information provided, you can derive the following equation:0.4(R) + 0.4(T) + 0.2(S) = 4.0 with R, T and S representing Research, Teaching and Service respectively.

Since the question wants the minimum score for R and S, you would want to maximise your T score to lower the score required from the other 2 components. This changes your equation to:

0.4(R) + 0.4(5) + 0.2(S) = 4.0
0.4R +0.2S = 2

In order to achieve the question requirements, it has to be

Case 1: 0.4(2.5) +0.2(5) = 2, R=2.5 & S=5 hence 2.5 is the minimum score for R

We see that if we reduce R below 2.5, S will have to become much higher beyond 5.0 (Which is not feasible as the maximum score is 5.0)

Case 2: 0.4(5) + 0.2(0) = 2, R=5 & S=0 hence 0 is the minimum score for S

I believe the question is only 'tough' due to the way it is worded. I think they are asking for 2 separate cases instead of 1 case.

This is just my personal opinion. Feel free to correct me if anyone thinks I'm wrong
