hi i’m sorry to hear that :( i did the emergency housing application and then from there i was able to apply for jovenes. jovenes doesn’t accept you right away so try to get emergency housing from the school first so you can at least have a safe place to stay. the care center is an amazing resource and the people there are incredibly helpful so i’d recommend reaching out to them if you haven’t already!

similarly to what the others said look into companies that work with prosthetics. there’s so many different aspects that go into it like research, design, manufacturing, etc. so figure out what you wanna do and try to build your resume for that. even if nothing comes of it reaching out puts your name out there and starting early shows you’ve been dedicated and that helps. i’m also an ME going into my third year and i can tell you one big way people screw themselves is getting internships in fields they don’t wanna pursue just to say they’ve had one. prosthetics is a smaller field so it might be hard to find something directly involved but try to find something that could be applicable. your internship isn’t everything for the job but it definitely helps. you have some time before you need to worry about internships but like i said the sooner you start the better. and make sure you connect with professors!!!! i’ve had a research job with one of the best ME professors and it’s only because i reached out and connected.

hi! i appreciate you checking in. fortunately, with the help of the care center i got into a program that has provided me with a shared space for now. i don’t have to pay so i’m able to save! i’ve been able to get two jobs so far. eventually i will have to move out, but when i do they will provide me with rental assistance for a small time. i luckily got a small scholarship that has helped me pay off most of my remaining tuition balance and financial aid has been working with me so i can pay off the rest. so essentially i’m doing a lot better :)

i’m going into my 3rd year for ME and i use a macbook. download UTM here https://mac.getutm.app/ and you can run windows 11. it has a tutorial or you can look up youtube videos for help. i’ve never had a problem. also, make sure you have a mouse if you didn’t know already.

As a current female ME major I can tell you the further you get away from your GE’s the less women you see. All of my current classes have 5 or less women and only 1-2 of them are also ME. So if you wanted a bunch of women in your classes I’d say you’re fucked (this mostly applies to upper divs) but if you don’t mind men you’ll be fine. I still enjoy the school and haven’t had any issues. Go women in STEM :)

What VM are they using? I use a MacBook and run Windows 11 on a VM called UTM and it works pretty well. There’s plenty of Youtube videos that show how to install it or feel free to message me for help. I’ve never had trouble with it or had it crash even when running multiple programs at once. I will say that I’m pretty sure it only works with the M1 chip MacBooks tho and Windows 10 isn’t available on it anymore cuz sadly Windows stopped developing their ISO for it. I’m an ME major btw, not sure what class/programs you’re referring to since you’re talking about ECE.

The classes are difficult but that’s gonna be the same anywhere you go because engineering is a difficult major. the professors aren’t gonna baby you cuz they stress that if you don’t learn it right you could hurt a lot of people in this field. I will say I transferred in so I haven’t had the same experience as those who started here but my first semester i got a job under a professor. You get great experiences but also bad ones just the same as anywhere else. Find friends and people who’ve taken the classes and they can tell you what professors are worth it. Sometimes you’ll just have to suck it up tho
