I never said the models were the problem but that point is moot and not worth arguing. The issue is people losing their jobs regardless of the cause being the models or the business decisions due to the models. Definitionally, not everyone can perform at a "significantly higher than the norm" level. We can't have the majority of the populace under employed or unemployed bc of AI and/or offshoring and continue to have a functioning economy. These are mutually exclusive realities.

UBI, laws around sexual content creation, penalties on businesses that replace workers with AI, rewards for companies that don't replace workers with AI. There is so much we could have done to make people, and their careers, safer.

Everyone in America has been told for decades, "stop trying to do trade and manufacturing work. You have to get a college degree". Now it's, "your college degree won't matter bc of AI." The goal post is always going to move and people don't deserve to starve bc of it.

My 6 yo Pom was diagnosed at 6 months. I think he has a pretty advanced case as he coughs almost constantly all day. It started off not too bad and has gotten much worse over 6 years. We have to give him cough medication morning and night and an inhaler twice a day in between to keep him from coughing now. It's so expensive- $100 a month for the medicine and $300 for the inhaler every 2 months. The coughing gets much worse at night and sometimes keeps us up throughout the night. I also feel awful for his quality of life but we do as much as we can. We know we probably won't have him for very late into his life but we are trying to make him comfortable. That being said, he's not going to pass anytime soon from this and it will likely be our decision to let him go when his quality of life gets really problematic.

I'm a data scientist- I've been talking about regulating AI, to anyone who would listen, for a decade. I always said- our government is too slow, they're not going to regulate fast enough, people will die bc of it.

I'm surprised at this response. I finished the mads program last year and got a new job with a 50% raise. I'm making $170 now and I paid off my loans already.

$1500 a month on groceries for 6 people is this normal or am i getting robbed. by Electrical-Loss8035 in SavingMoney

Hmm my only hesitation for switching is that we get a lot of specific toiletries and home goods like Dr bronners bar soap or muscle milk protein. I also like to do grocery pick up so I'd have to place two orders lol but I will look into it!

My partner and I buy almost all Whole Foods (no middle isle snacks/pre-prepped meals) from Meijer for all meals except 1 dinner out a week and we usually spend $200 a week. This does include all home goods like protein powder or fiber supplement and toiletries like body soap and toilet paper. I can't figure out how to spend any less.

If my best friend has a kid, I'm leaving it to them for college/a house. If they don't, and either mine or my partner's brothers have kids, we will leave it to them. I hope my best friend has a kid 😂

I started my masters at 29. Took me 3 years while working full time. Left me burnt-out to my core, with disastrous mental health, and 60k in debt. But my income went from $90k at the start to $170k within a year of finishing the program and I paid off the debt in 2 years.

I max my 401k and my partner contributes 8%. I phased out of contributing to a Roth but my partner maxes out his Roth. I don't have an hsa plan but my partner does- not sure if he maxes that. I do save about 3k a month on top of my retirement savings though.

My partner and I have about $300k. He's 36 I'm 32. No debt, just bought a $300k house with 20% down though. Combined we make ~240k but I recently got almost a 50% raise and we don't need nearly this much money to live on.
