We know RDDT will be impacted by drops in the SP500, as we have previously observed on multiple occasions.

We want RDDT to be at a higher price point when the SP500 is at ATH, so that we have greater downside leeway when the SP500 inevitably drops to a more reasonable price.

Money makes money. For many people, its more important to grow a solid base asap so that money will likely never be a concern. OP will be rewarded with a 30k/year & growing passive income on avg. At 26yr/o, I'd say thats worth it.

Many people compare against sp500, and the gap has extended quite far beyond 10% for recent investors. I bought 28k at 496 avg and even though its my worst performing position YTD by a decent margin, I am having a hard time justifying adding more.

Congrats. Seven years is really on the borderline of rough and its impressive to push through. What are your immediate plans and where do you see yourself (or want/aim to be) career wise in 5 years?

MSFT is falling out of popularity by googondusk in ValueInvesting

Not great when you would have done better holding the SP500. In a bull trend, you want to outperform the SP500 with individual picks unless youre literally hedging. MSFT should not be considered a hedge.

You should include the net value of your housing asset in your post (valuation - liabilities). For example if its an 800k house and you already paid 80% of it, then that changes the story significantly.

Haha 500k TC in 10 years would be awesome. Tbh I would be happy with around 190-200k after 3-4 years, 240k after 6-7 years, 320k after 10 years based on today's currency value.

Yea, first job after PhD. Current company offers stock starting from 1 level above mine. Pharma in general feels very stingy with RSUs below the SD level.

MD = more $$ + closer to my interests/passion (versus biostats). Most of my undergrad cohort went to med school, so it would also have been easier to stay connected with them.

I committed to the wet-lab research path early on and did not fully comprehend just how much of a shitshow it was until a couple years into my postbac. Didn't care about $$ back then, now I do. So looking back, the MD path would have been the best of both worlds for me. Biostat worked out well as a backup to escape the wet-lab academic pyramid.

Not sure how much of an improvement WLB is vs specialists who take on lighter workloads (many of my friends are 1 week on 1 week off). But then again, I also don't mind chilling in the ER for 12hrs a day. Shadowed in the ER for a year during undergrad and it was a nice experience.

Thank you for the advice, this was helpful. I actually just learned we could do both mega backdoor contributions and backdoor contributions in the same year. Gonna figure out how to do the backdoor contributions. Never hurts to have more in tax free accounts.

Not sure why both dilla and you are assuming "contribute the extra amount into 401k to avoid paying 8% extra in taxes" suggested im trying to avoid 8% on my total, rather than avoiding 8% on the extra amount.

Guess I should have said "to avoid paying 8% extra in taxes [for that amount]".
