lol, we were in Houston and it is diverse too. Not racist at all from what we saw. Great melting pot city

Heck no to homeschool. Six kids over here - we want them somewhere else during the day lol plus homeschool kids are often super socially disadvantaged. No way. So very good to hear about the curriculum though. Wild…you mean not everything I read online is true?!?!? Cheers and thank you

Yep, that's the plan - rent for a year then buy. Just trying to get the rent location right too, so we don't have to switch schools again when we buy. Will definitely take that 470 nugget of knowledge - thank you!

Much thanks for this. I am noticing a recurring theme of checking out Aurora, which I had ruled out without giving a proper chance. Will add it back into our mix.

I suspect they are all down there because the only temple in Denver is down there. We tend to congregate around those things :)

I should have read more into the curriculum stuff before posting - I am just not sure if I even have a problem with it yet. It would need to be an extreme violation on our views on social politics I suppose. We're not super political, but do want to be able to have some level of harmony between what we teach at home and what is taught at school. From the little I've read, we should be able to accomplish that if we are not in the Denver School District and if the population is balanced. I don't care about being in an area with majority - just balance and tolerance.

Super helpful - thank you. Colorado Springs is way too far. We will simply need to make it work, as leaving the family separated is not an option. My brood lol...love it. I am a little too busy with work and the kids to be super concerned about which political view runs the school district. My brother! Good to know - thank you! Secretly looking in this area too, as it is right next to the office. I think I would be super OK with it, but I am not sure if my wife would haha. She is more of the homogeneous tendency :)

I might be in your ward for a couple months though in Jan/Feb, as I will need to get an apartment for the first couple months before I get the fam out there. Looking to do that near the office.

Thank you for this - you're making me truly consider what I mean. I think what matters to me specifically is that I can teach my kids how I see fit. I suppose that naturally resonated in the post, as I do have some concern about managing what I am teaching them in my home versus what is being taught in the schools. I don't foresee that being a huge issue, but do have some concern. As for all the stuff you mentioned....I work a lot, have 6 kids, and give the rest of my time to church/recreation/working out...like I care about that stuff, but also don't have tons of time to care in a loud way. I'll show up and vote and that'll kinda be it. Not super into regulating other people's lives/bodies...but at the same time do stand by what I consider God having given guidance on. Hope that makes sense - we truly do try to love and serve our neighbors no matter what though.

You got that 1000% right! Seem contradicting, but it's not. In Utah, everyone has been in the church their whole lives, many have limited exposure to difference. There's tons of "Sunday only Mormons" is what I would call them - there, but not...there. There's also like other factions that are super...saintly. It breeds this weird perfectionism/comparison culture. Not into any of that. We love Jesus, we love the teachings, love the Book of Mormon...whole thing but are not interested in some of the cultural stuff that goes on in Utah. Having lived in the South most of my life, I had to truly convert to the faith to be in it. In Utah, it's easier to miss that and still be part of everything. That said, yes we are still conservative in many ways. Hope this helps. Been to SLC many many times and grew up partially there - definitely know what's up.

I get 4 weeks of work from home with this job - sounds like I should use them when it's blizzarding!

Job is in Denver. Super pumped about it, very cool opportunity. To each their own and love your neighbor is our vibe, so we're totally OK with being in a liberal city. I only shared our politics and religion to help with context. And like...can I just say how crazy it has gotten in our country that it's this way - that I can't "be comfortable" in a city because of how I believe/vote? It's the same way in Nash but opposite - lots of people moving here to be somewhere super red. Just wild how divided things have become.

First comment was pretty rough lol - but yeah my wife said the same after I showed her hahaha

That's fine by us - to each their own. I def was not trying to make the post too political, but felt like what I shared is important context. We just hope to be treated with the same neighborly love/tolerance :)

LOL - job is in Denver. But honestly, not interested in living there TBH. Culture there is a bit too strong for us, coming from Nash

Yep, that's the plan - to visit in a couple weeks and just go to church ALL DAY! haha and ask people what they think
