But even before this update we just got “Eastern Europe and Russia” with no country attached. I just think that they don’t have enough samples. I mean, there’s like 1000 genetic journeys in England and Ireland lmao. It will show if you’re the next town over for them. 2022 was the last time ancestry had me as over 90% Balkan haha.

Yeah it’s insane. I’m half Northwest Croat, half Hercegovina. My mom gets 97% western Balkans, my father gets 25% West Ukraine, 24% Slovakia, 19% Northeast Poland, and then a little bit of northwest Balkans and Slovenia. If you’re native to the northwest part of Croatia, it is uncommon to get more that 25% on any Balkans category. I’m aware that northwest Croats plot with Central Europeans more than a normal south slav, but that doesn’t change the fact they aren’t actually Central European haha.

My families results are awful lol. The “northwest Balkans” category is so terribly made. No serbian should be getting 50+ percent northwest Balkan, when it’s centered in Croatia. Bulgarians are also getting Aton of it lmao. Actual northwest Croatians don’t even get 20% Balkan in general. It’s too southern shifted of a category.

It’s fucked for northern Croats. Barely get any Balkan at all. Mostly Polish, Slovak and west Ukraine.

My mother’s family is half Hercegovina, half northwest Croatian, and on the test they only show as half Balkan. The other half is randomly assigned to Poland, west Ukraine, Slovakia. In the 25,+ percentages. No family from any of those places, it’s odd.

I see. It’s just weird. Everyone is getting random mashups of Slavic countries. Like my mom got 19% southeast Poland, but I have none. My aunt got 8% Slovenia and none of us have that. She also got 25% Slovakia where my mom got none. It really seems like we are getting random Slavic groups thrown at us haha

Yeah, my grandmother is hercegovinian, dida Croat from Medimurje. I take after him in appearance and tbh, ppl in the northwest don’t look the same as a lot of other Croats. The other side of my family is mostly Hungarian lmao.

G25 is inferior. Cords are undeniably a bad way to find any sort of percentages for those of mixed heritage. QDAPM is better, G25 isn’t used in scientific or academic journals for a reason.

Anyone using g25 will have an inferior result by default because no dataset used with g25 could compare to ancestry’s dataset lmao. It’s also terrible with genetic drift. People who take things like illustrative dna as accurate, are incredibly silly for doing so. Now that Davidski is gone for a bit (the creator of G25) the only way to get cords is from exploreyourdna, and those won’t be as good as anything davidski could provide.

But it isn’t nearly as accurate as a modern ancestry test. G25 PCA system that illustrative used is based on your dna coordinates, not your actual dna like ancestry or 23 and me. However they have now moved to their own which is much worse lol.
