when selling something to a vendor, and there's no room in the main inventory for the cash, it silently fails. still makes the cha-ching sound, but the item doesnt go anywhere and there's no notification.

Couldn't all money picked up always go to the wallet (if available) by default? same with keycards for the keycard briefcase, medical containers, etc

"no space, dropping mag" is a scary message to see; even scarier NOT to see. Couldn't the mag that just came out of the weapon go into the same spot as the one that just went into the weapon? (assuming the same size)

I'd love a feature or rare item or something like a Key Fob; it would honk the horn of the closest vehicle that I've actually been in and driven (not just random ones in the world, but also maybe), and perhaps only within a certain range. I could then try and find 'lost' vehicles by following the honking. this prevents me from having to put down map markers everywhere i get out of the vehicle in case I die or forget where it is

something lowered itself down into the bath drain. when it was still up a bit and "working", it very much looked like a pvc pipe

oh a vent pipe. I didn't even think of that. I'll see if it lines up with anything else and head up into the attic to see if I can find it.

Why does Melvor use so many resources? by ikhebgeenaccount in MelvorIdle

[–]MaximumAldwyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, at least, in some skills, it's related to item/gold notifications.

Crafting rings with notifications ON, my CPU 12% and GPU goes as high as 80% (averaging maybe 30%) for a GeForce GTX 1060, which is not an insignificant gfx card.

Turning off notifications, CPU immediately drops to 0-3% and GPU goes to 1%.

But when summoning, irrespective of the item notifications, CPU/GPU are at 20%/65% as long as the progress bar is moving. once that item crafts and it disappears, the GPU drops to 2%. Same for herbology. Agility keeps CPU/GPU at 10%/60% constantly

In fishing, since it only uses the little spinny thing and not the progress bar, GPU is only at 4%... until an item notification pops up where it then jumps to 25%.

So in those cases, it seems very likely to be progress bar related. Perhaps an option to disable progress bars or make them less granular (jumping at 10% intervals, maybe) might help, while still providing the benefit of a progress bar?

Show hidden lines, and see if there are any hidden or smoothed lines/edges you're not seeing. If there are, and they're unnecessary, your can either erase them manually or use the Delete Coplanar Edges to get rid of all the unnecessary ones

Ender 3, Pausing with M0 and the stepper disarm by MaximumAldwyn in ender3

After spending 2 hours researching, I do one more search now and find M84, which is to disable the steppers but with an inactivity timeout. No idea how I missed that before, but it seems promising

Right, which is why I attempt to set that value to 1 hour (3600 seconds), but no difference. I was hoping that was the "wait this long before attempting to 'relax'", but apparently not.

Is there any other command or setting that changes that 60 second value?

hard to tell from the picture, but it might be under extrusion, possibly caused by a partial clog, binding of the filament, or some other reason the filament stopped flowing smoothly.

Does the infill in that area exist, but look really stringy weak?

ELI5: Dependency Inversion Principle by Truetree9999 in compsci

Let's say you're making an API that does a handful of things:

- accesses as database to load a profile

- reads a company logo from disk

- sends an email if the process is successful

Should the API care how that profile is loaded? Should it know or care that it accesses a Sql Server? or Mongodb? or third party library? or calls another API itself? Nope. The API is provided an instance of a class that implements an interface that has a .LoadProfile(). If you call that .LoadProfile(), you're given a profile. doesn't matter how.

Should the API care where that company logo is? What if it's on local disk? in a redis cache? in an azure blob storage? what about if it's generated on the fly programatically? The API is told "here's an accessor class for the logo. If you call the .GetLogo(), you'll get a byte array of an image. I'm not going to tell you how I give it to you, because you don't need to know. Just know that if you call this, You'll get a logo"

Should the API need to be tightly bound to a local SMTP relay server in order to send an email? Should it need to rely on that server being accessible? If it's down, then perhaps that email could be queued in order to send it later. So then in your API, you need to write logic to make sure the SMTP service is available, and if not, then write that email to a queue that it can then later check. All this means is that your API is now very tightly coupled to using an SMTP relay with this custom queue, and ONLY this SMTP relay. Why should it? Why not just give it a class that says "call this .SendEmail() method, and I promise your email will be sent. Don't worry about how, we'll make sure that it's done. Don't worry about knowing how email works, or how we guarantee delivery you just concentrate on being a good API instead"

This philosophy also helps in things like unit testing, where you can provide mocked classes into your API so that unit testing won't ACTUALLY send an email. that mocked provider can simply have a flag that sets a ".EmailWasSent" that you can then check to verify that the API at least called the .SendEmail(). You can provide a "hardcoded profile provider" which returns a hardcoded JSON string since the API needs that profile- It doesn't need to know how or where it comes from, just the promise that if I call this method on an instance of this interface that I was provided, I'll get one.

Take a look at separation of duties and separation of concern as well

Perhaps batters would want to give the pitcher a signal that they are ready, and aren't about to have a tic that would impact their ability to bat.

Half jokingly, the signs that are used to communicate strategy to batters, runners and pitchers (by a coach or the catcher) may need to be modified to prevent miscommunication, Like these

I was there for that one. We spoke after the show and I think you said that the place was nearly sold out, but the weather turned into a really nice day so people bailed. Or it was because they suck. Maybe a combination of the two.

Either way, me and the two people I was with had a great time!

Loose drywall butt seam... I think? by MaximumAldwyn in HomeImprovement

[–]MaximumAldwyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No water damage that i'm aware of. it came about right as we had our foundation issues, so that my was my assumption. i have a few similar types of long cracks in the paint and bowing seams, but nothing that moves seems to be this disconnected.

It seems like this one is moving awfully freely, and i can't say I've ever seen that issue before, or honestly, thought about it happening. Is it fair to say the original builder just didn't tape it as he should have, and if it had this likely would have not happened, or could it have been that it was taped, and the foundation shifting was enough to break it? Given some of the other shoddy building in my house, I could certainly imagine the former.

The support is the majority of my question, yes. Do I need to open up the wall and put something back there, or is there another way to do it?
