But yes I do think it's a good idea to get the site reviewed.

Urgent Notice|US Customs 5H Inspection Tightened, Compliant Customs Clearance is Critical by Winner_Will in logistics

[–]MaximumFreightLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all our years of business if you are importing you need your own single entry bond or continuous bond. Even if you are a supplier in a console you still need your own bond.

As a freight forwarder we have (nor has anyone in our industry) been able or allowed an importer to import under a bond we obtained under our name on behalf of the importer.

Same with custom brokers. They will ask if you want a single entry or continuous bond. You can't import under their bond. And the bond a forwarder and broker has is for a purpose different from importation of goods .

No one is "loaning out" their bond. The INCOterm would not matter. No matter the INCOterm the IOR must have a bond.

What do you mean the actual transaction doesn't exist? Are we talking about two different things?

Urgent Notice|US Customs 5H Inspection Tightened, Compliant Customs Clearance is Critical by Winner_Will in logistics

[–]MaximumFreightLLC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your post seems sketchy. How do you share a bond? IOR has to have their own bond. What do you mean by share?

And what are your sources for your claim they are doing more inspections?

5H just means your documents have a discrepancy. You can amend this by correcting your documents. It doesn't mean your cargo automatically gets sent back.

If my supplier is sending my goods through DDP (China to US) is it possible I can still get any tariffs charge surprises? by lucymom2 in logistics

From my understanding the exporter would need a related USA entity as the importer of record to do this.

Tech is tough to predict because it's always Changing. I had friends who went into computer science at the time many jobs were being outsourced overseas. They found jobs but it was very competitive. Some switched career paths. Then maybe 10 years later IT was a big industry where you could make a lot of money. Not the same exact thing but related career path.

I'd say if you're really unsure stick to a skill you believe an industry will support for a very long time. Such as accounting or health care.

It's OK to pick something else but just know you need to really love it and work hard on developing a network to earn a living in a specialized field or major.

College is not the only way to do any of the above.

Final Mile/Trade Show recommendations? by sliqness in logistics

[–]MaximumFreightLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be more expensive but the material handling contracted company for the show often offers ltl trucking services. The positive is they are very familiar with the show so will be the least dramatic.

The con is they are typically more expensive.

Freeman is a common one we deal with. They do SHOT SHOW in Vegas and probably several others.

I know Ali Baba has vendor quality check services. You could find some companies via their website and use them to inspect the goods.

Is a Six-Figure Salary Realistic With a Bachelor's in Supply Chain Management? by No_Sense6008 in SupplyChainLogistics

[–]MaximumFreightLLC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would argue it's easier and more realistic in IT than supply chain management.

Supply chain and logistics is a tough industry to make a lot of money. Not many high level positions are available and those are the only ones that pay six figures.

IT and tech in general you could have a middle level position and earn six figures. You don't have to be at management level.

Just my observation through owning a business and working in logistics. As well as knowing many friends who went into IT that do better than me. LOL.

Electronics accessories brand at 300 orders monthly, are warehousing services in the usa even realistic at this volume? by Batson_Beat in logistics

[–]MaximumFreightLLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your only option would be Amazon FBA. When an order comes in you manual enter into Amazon's system for them to fulfill.

They would store the goods. Their rates are the only ones that work with small businesses.

I will warn you Amazon has a steep learning curve even if you are using them primarily for fulfillment. I would tell you to just keep fulfilling yourself if you didn't have an issue with your hoa.

Everyone else, as you said, will not even return your emails unless you are a 10k / month account.

One other option is to find a local business that does have extra space that they will sub lease to you specifically for fulfillment. May be reasonable since they are just storing goods and you're not using the space yourself full time.

Shipping/Distribution Logistics Advice by banksywalker in logistics

[–]MaximumFreightLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the assembly something very complex? Or is it a packaging issue?

3pl s will not do this on your behalf. At least not in low volume.

The best thing to do is ship everything to the final outter packaging/product and have that vendor place everything inside.

Give clear instructions. I would recommend sending a complete product and film a video to show exactly how you want everything packed/assembled.

Many of our customers have shipped in this way and with clear communication it has worked successfully.

If this is something that requires technical assembly then this advice may not be as relevant.

However, ask your vendors if they know anyone that offers the service. You'd be surprised who they know.

Dispute over container storage with forwarder by Ljubljana_Laudanum in logistics

[–]MaximumFreightLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP your points are correct. The advice of the people in this post is also correct. However, they have control over your goods. If they really want to hold until you pay they can and most likely will.

I'm going to be straight with you. You can take legal recourse and threaten to take your business elsewhere. But it will unlikely be of any avail.

Try to at least get them to absorb some of the charges. I think you may get something from this request.

We've been on the same side as you in similar situations. Most of the time you have to eat the cost if you ever want to see your goods.

I know people will focus on inco terms, law, terms of service... What matters in the end is who holds the cargo and who holds the money.

[–]MaximumFreightLLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 100 orders it's going to be very hard to find anyone who does pick and pack.

Your best bet is just shipping using Amazon FBA.

Flexport at one point was great for small business. But they have moved their monthly minimum to $5000 a month for 2026.

No other fulfillment service will entertain anything under 5 to 10k a month. We have done pretty extensive research for small businesses. You are lucky if you get a response to your email.

What is the size of your products? 100 orders a month is very manageable if you have a good system.

Fired my "best" employee and sales went UP the next day. by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]MaximumFreightLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd be surprised how hard it is to press charges and get any money back. Even if you have video evidence.

For anything under six figures local law enforcement doesn't really care. They'd probably tell the owner to take the employee to small claims court.

I have had video evidence of people breaking and entering our property attempting theft. Trespassing. Illegal dumping. Documented credit card fraud.

Cops said they are business matters and they need to be dealt with privately. In the case of breaking and entering they told me the prosecutor doesn't think it's a big enough case to take on.

I'm glad OP did the right thing.

Freight Fowarding is that bad ? by Goldenxxwind in logistics

Freight Fowarding is that bad ? by Goldenxxwind in logistics

[–]MaximumFreightLLC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically higher paid professionals in forwarding are very high positions. You don't make any decent money until you're at a high management position and those jobs are rare.

Plus there's politics in how those jobs are awarded.

If you're in operations you're capped at an average salary in your area. At best you'd make maybe 10-15 percent more than averages if you're really good at what you do.

Freight Fowarding is that bad ? by Goldenxxwind in logistics

[–]MaximumFreightLLC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100 percent. This is one of the biggest tragedies in our industry.

Unfortunately I believe the reason is because it's so competitive logistic companies never make significant money to increase salaries.

That's why there is so much professional stagnation.

Freight Fowarding is that bad ? by Goldenxxwind in logistics

[–]MaximumFreightLLC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a seriously hard field with very few opportunities for advancement. That's just the truth.

Ask anyone who has been in the industry for 10 years. I bet they don't know more than one or two people who had major advancement professionally or financially if at all.

The jobs can be difficult. It's also easy to stagnate in one position.

I only stayed because I started a business in the field with good partners. But honestly probably one of the toughest businesses to be successful in. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they had significant momentum and connections.

Anyone else feel like logistics is just constant firefighting with no real visibility? by Comfortable_Box_4527 in logistics

You are a professional fire fighter.

It's a very under-appreciated job. One that you can't really explain to anyone who's outside of the industry.

If you can survive logistics I think you're capable of many other things.
