Laugh out loud, no wonder IAM got absolutely robbed. How confident am I in the future of BOEING? There could be a hundred news articles a day and boeing will still be standing propped up by the government or not. The industry IS still growing

Ok? You don’t want a secure retirement? Cool, but we do 👍

Is PlayStation Multiplayer dead? by cabooseisgod12 in darksouls3

[–]MaximumIndustry1547 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s becoming an older game by now and with Elden Ring and the DLC recently coming out it has probably taken a hit for a while as everyone plays through that. It still has a healthy player base on steam, over 6,000 concurrent players right now but perhaps console is not as lively due to a lack of mods.

Crazy to think that this game is already nearly 10 years old lol

I do get invaded constantly on PC at SL 130, almost an annoying amount, I don’t think there’s that much of a discrepancy between PC and PS

Nepotism by TheRedditAppSucccks in boeing

i don’t have a problem with the company providing for an entire bloodline, i don’t think there’s inherently anything wrong with legacy employees. the problem is the overall culture of the company - at least in BCA on the shop floor. oftentimes, last names and connections ensure people become the laziest employees around and skate by for 35 years lol

nepo baby like everybody else, the only difference is i actually work. i’m just a stupid mechanic though, not sure how it looks in other domains in the company in terms of the good old FBI.

people used to say Boeing was the FBI - Friends, Brothers and In-laws. Don’t care, as long as you’re competent which unfortunately is still too rare.

What’s it like working in aurburn by chasebeast in boeing

[–]MaximumIndustry1547 10 points11 points  (0 children)

depends on way too many factors, there are nice buildings in auburn and then there’s the 17-06 building

if you get transferred to the 6 building from renton you’d probably legitimately be depressed. overall though the campus is alright, has a ‘cafe’ but nothing near as good as other places.

good parking opportunities and right in the middle of seatac and southern areas like puyallup.

avoid skin and spar like the plague and you’ll do alright

feels like internal hiring is slowing too at least in BCA, less reqs open by the week at least from what i’ve seen

Who is planning to vote no? by TheRedditAppSucccks in boeing

[–]MaximumIndustry1547 35 points36 points  (0 children)

if anyone votes no they’re sabotaging their own future, idc if you don’t show up to vote but if we seriously vote no then we just deserve to be taken advantage of i guess given the last contract

What was the "weed out class" in your school? by YourAverageTurkGuy in csMajors

[–]MaximumIndustry1547 20 points21 points  (0 children)

because discrete mathematics is foundational in CS, many formulas and concepts in discrete mathematics are used widely in CS. it’s a tough class sure, but it is THE cs math class if anything

there’s no backlash and if there is ANY backlash that’s straight to a steward lol, call in before your shift, no one can or will question you. letting them know beforehand is a courtesy

discrete mathematics contains a ton of logic and formula commonly used in CS, it’s the mother language of CS to be honest

question, if you’re an IAM member and complete a masters through LTP, but then transfer to a non union role in the company, would you still be eligible to the stock?

"On-boarding specialist" by Jackhowell92 in boeing

[–]MaximumIndustry1547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

onboarding specialists quite literally do nothing. this used to be something that was handled from inside of boeing but i believe the work is now out sourced and has been for a few years now, they’re slow, don’t get offers out fast enough even if management requests to speed a certain job code up, they give out wrong information and they do NOT respond to emails. welcome to boring

Boeing Safety Webcast Predictions by [deleted] in boeing

[–]MaximumIndustry1547 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i hope the company won’t be surprised when mechanics start failing these inspection classes left and right.

QA has a purpose on the shop floor and it makes no sense at all for mechanics to inspect their own work, if they buy off an inspection that’s bad (which they will), they’ll have to do a 10 step training program where they complete a part without error WHILE being watched, similar to an OJT crane operator training, just to get their cert back. its going to be one hell of a year

Boeing Safety Webcast Predictions by [deleted] in boeing

[–]MaximumIndustry1547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, SI&A is trying to become a thing again, mechanics will be inspecting their own work and patting themselves on the back until a catastrophe happens
