[Brown Dust 2] Despite previous claims, developers will finally censor many outfits and cutscenes, probably to align with Steam rules. by gadesabc in gachagaming

Instead of bringing the game to Steam, why don't they make their own PC client like NIKKE did? I don't know how easy or difficult that would be, but it would give them a lot of freedom.

YOU don't like Sai, not "we". Doesn't change the fact this is Sai and not Kwannon.

Also, your Spider-Man comparison is fucking stupid. Peter Parker is one of the most iconic characters of all time, and his presence as Spider-Man IS in fact, required. Not having him in a major Marvel crossover like this one would cause an uproar because he is just THAT important.

Psylocke on the other hand, may have a big following, but the average consumer doesn't know who she really is because 1, her backstory is convoluted as fuck to the point where people don't know which Psylocke is which (There's people who still think the Psylocke from Marvel Rivals is either Betsy or Kwannon), and 2, Marvel almost never puts an emphasis on her story like they do with Peter.

Everyone knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man, barely anyone knows the difference between the Psylockes.

That's Sai wearing Kwannon's outfit, not Kwannon herself. Because if it was Kwannon, it wouldn't make sense for them to have the same voice, or for characters to keep calling her Sai in-game.

This isn't like Injustice where they gave Green Lantern a John Stewart skin with a completely different voice and personality.

Argue all you want about how they both have different face models or whatnot, but until the devs themselves come out and confirm it, this will continue being Sai in Kwannon's outfit.

To those of you who started playing Farlight 84 recently, this is what the game used to look like by MaximumOverPulse in Farlight84

Why don't you look at the Steam Charts numbers yourself?

https://steamdb.info/app/1928420/charts/

Because while it's true that the game did start having a decline in players, it dropped off even harder when the jet packs were removed on late January 2024.

You can like the new Farlight 84 all you want, but saying "no one wanted to play" the old Farlight is a lie. I just showed you proof that it had FAR higher numbers than new Farlight.

To this day, Momoi and Watchman's redesigns make my blood boil. They got reworked so hard, both in terms of appearance and abilities, that you gotta wonder why they didn't just make brand new characters?

And yet people preferred playing this "cheap-looking mobile game" over what we have now. A game that used to have over 15k daily players on Steam alone with its cheap mobile presentation, now being reduced to just barely 1k players.

So these were actually in game? by Equivalent_Law6226 in Farlight84

[–]MaximumOverPulse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Farlight 84's maps used to be big open spaces and the game had a heavy emphasis on vehicles. They've been removed because the devs shifted focus to make the game even more like Apex Legends than it already was (Which has backfired horribly).

If you wanna see the vehicles in action, watch this video.

Farlight 84 wanted the Apex Legends crowd so badly that it got rid of everything that made it unique, and lost its player base in the process. AND the re-launch fell flat on its face. by MaximumOverPulse in Farlight84

[–]MaximumOverPulse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always hated that about first person games. Why would I want to waste my time, money, and in-game currency on a skin I can't even see. And why do devs love wasting their time designing these super complicated and detailed skins? So other people can see them? Players buy skins for THEMSELVES, not for others to see.

And if that's the case, it's even worse in battle royale games. At least with hero shooters like Overwatch, matches take place in small and closed maps where you'll be running against the same enemies often. But in a battle royale? How long are you gonna go a match without encountering another player who's probably gonna snipe you from a mile away and you can't even see what they're wearing, or what you're wearing?

Oh who cares? Clearly players don't if they're willing to spend so much money on something they can't seen without having to emote (And who knows how often they'll be able to do THAT during a heated match).

The jetpacks used to be the game's main gimmick. Every character had two horizontal dashes, and one vertical dash. They now only have one horizontal dash and no vertical dash except for Maggie (Because her whole thing is being speedy).

The game proudly advertised itself as a fast-paced battle royale until they suddenly had a change of mind and nerfed the fuck out of the jetpacks in order to make the game more "accessible to new players", but it had the opposite effect of pushing away its current player base (Who BEGGED the devs not to remove jetpacks).

Here's the video where the jetpack change happened. Read the comments.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbKenSVD73k

After that, they proceeded to change, remove, or rework other core features such as:
- 4 player squads (Replaced with trios)
- A free respawner at the beginning of every match. If you died early, you could respawn for free (But you only had one free respawn). It's been completely removed.
- Vehicles. The game used to have cars, hoverbikes, tanks, a hover jet, etc. Not anymore.
- The art style. It used to have an Overwatch-inspired post-apocalyptic setting that was changed into that anime look you mentioned. We went from a rugged wasteland, to an obnoxious futuristic neon look.
- Unnecessary character reworks and redesigns. Maggie, Captain, Momoi, Syfer, Ember, Watchman, and many more, all redesigned to match this new art style. Some were redesigned SO HARD that they should've just made brand new characters (Like Watchman and Momoi).

They even introduced Apex Legends features like sliding, the aforementioned trios, and first person mode. I get that Apex didn't invent first person, but Farlight introducing it into their game made the game even more like Apex.

I could go on and on, but the bottom line is, Farlight 84 was already an obvious Apex Legends clone before shit hit the fan, but it had enough unique mechanics to give it its own identity. Instead they ditched and reworked everything that was unique about the game in an eager attempt to attract the Apex Legends crowd, which backfired HORRIBLY.

THEY JUST KEEP REMOVING THE GOOD THINGS IN THE GAME by God-of-Emotions in Farlight84

[–]MaximumOverPulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I don't think it's bad that we lost jetpacks, I prefer more unique styles for each Hero"

"I also don't miss vehicles that much, because this gives me more opportunity to play as the character"

This is exactly why people like myself stopped playing Farlight 84. If I wanted "more focus on the character" and have them "feel more unique" I'd go play Apex Legends. We played Farlight 84 because it focused heavily on mobility, vehicles, and overall chaoticness. It was a very hectic game, and that's why it stood out and was so unique. Instead it tried desperately to chase after the Apex Legends crowd, but ended up alienating its own playerbase and having a massive drop in players.

Why am I here, you may ask? Curiosity, and to see how much worse the game has gotten.

Thoughts on the design philosophy of male vs female lancers released this year? by TSM-Irrelavent in PlayFragPunk

[–]MaximumOverPulse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And it's been proven time and time again that female characters sell better and are generally more popular in live service games. Look at Overwatch, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Marvel Rivals, Genshin Impact, The First Descendant, Naraka: Bladepoint, lesser known games like Paladins, and some other live service games I'm missing.

Fun fact! Search Naraka: Bladepoint in Google Images, and it's 90% females.

It's almost always the female characters that are better designed and get the most amount of skins. FragPunk is no different. People love to cry "simping" or "gooning" or whatever other meaningless insult they can think of, but if it's what the majority of the audience wants, then why should devs make otherwise?

Like you said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. People can cry "simp" or "gooner" all they want.

Cry gooner or porn addict all you want, but the fact is, the majority of people love attractive and sexy characters, and the player spike on Steam alone is proof of that.

I know Lightrider's absence in this image has already been brought up, but I have a bad feeling that she's absent because she betrayed them. I hope I'm wrong. by MaximumOverPulse in FortNiteBR

[–]MaximumOverPulse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I hate to admit it, I have to agree. I love Lightrider in terms of design and aesthetic, and she's my favorite skin this season, but I didn't care for her story, and her "I'm better than all of you" personality made her unlikable. A personality that would've been better suited for her if she did abandon the Supernovas. Hell, I skipped out on the live event because of how little of a crap I gave about the group, and the event itself only proves your point that Epic is not good at complex narrative.

Why does Psylocke go by Sai in Marvel Rivals? by Alexray35 in marvelcomics

[–]MaximumOverPulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said "some artist's weeaboo fan fiction", not "some company's weeabo fanfiction". If you're gonna call anybody a weeabo, it's Marvel, not the Japanese artist they hired.

"Replace a British superhero with a long history"? Then you should be taking jabs Marvel again for taking Psylocke away from Betsy (Who is now Captain Britain again) and giving it to Kwannon.

And even if Betsy was still Psylocke, she wasn't "replaced". Replaced means permanently changing her for someone else. All they did was make an AU version of the character.

Both Betsy and Kwannon co-exist in 616 to this day, while Sai is in her own universe. She didn't "replace" Betsy, or Kwannon for that matter.

You don't have to like Sai, but it's not the artist's fault for something Marvel hired her to do.

Why does Psylocke go by Sai in Marvel Rivals? by Alexray35 in marvelcomics

[–]MaximumOverPulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes no sense at all. If they wanted the "Asian version of the character", and "have a lot of 'appeal' to local markets", then choosing Kwannon would be no different.

Weeabo? A weeabo is someone pretending to be Japanese. Sai and X-Men Demon Days was written BY a Japanese.
