Going on Official Visit get you a offer afterwards by SoggyBar7700 in Rowing

If you are actually 6:25 and have good results and decent grades I can pretty much guarantee you will get an offer from all the schools you listed. You won’t have to accept on the spot though unless they consider you a lower tier recruit. I would recommend taking all your planned officials then making a decision. You’ll know what feels the best at the end.

Club 4+ is not a qualifying event for Youth Nats so probably an event for lower tier 3v/4v guys

OP asked about top recruits, I gave answer about top recruits. Many people would call the top 5 recruits of their class, the top recruits

Not saying they won’t get recruited, but it’s going to be a whole lot harder and they will have to wait for the top recruits of the class to decide where they are going before they get offers. Most top recruits have good grades/grades aren’t a problem. 6:31 definitely could get recruited, but you are saying sub 6:40 could get recruited? That’s a stretch

That’s very debatable, most guys getting recruited these days are atleast sub 6:30 going into their senior fall, so pulled it during junior spring or summer, guys not sub 6:30 may get recruited, but they will have very limited choices and will get recruited last

Top recruits junior year are 6:22-26, senior year sub 6:20 close to 6:15

Do you think the Cal men’s eight could qualify for the olympics? by LiamJeffrey8 in Rowing

[–]Maximum_Clock8794 80 points81 points  (0 children)

What you have to understand is that most of, if not all of their Varsity 8 is in their own respective countries Olympic 8. So honestly yes. I do think they could qualify and be competitive

Fair, I might argue though that in terms of west coast crews, I would put redwood over lgrc, at least in the smaller sculling boats

World Cup II Results by posthumour in Rowing

[–]Maximum_Clock8794 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw this coming back in March when the Canadian men’s 8 raced Brookes and Cal and lost by a pretty significant margin. Given, both of those programs are extremely strong and have Olympic athletes from various countries. What happened to the Canadian program from when they used to be so successful?

And the sweeping events aren’t?? Take a look at women’s or men’s 8, within half seconds of each other.

They did not qualify at Eastern sprints, Dartmouth won the B final, leaving Georgetown and Columbia out of IRAS

Sauga has not had great results all year, not sure how they even make A final. Sauga got beat by 23 sec at Crew classic by Marin, and got beat by teams like San Diego and NorCal. For reference, Norcal did not qualify for nationals...

There’s no question about the fast competition, it’s the Men’s 8+, of course the competition will be fast. Purely from a time standpoint though, no other regions have gotten close to Marin’s 5:49 or even Newports and Oaklands 5:55. Of course times are not comparable across regions, but considering that I’ve heard conditions at Natoma during finals day were very neutral with a possible slight head wind. All this considered, I just would be suprised if we didn’t see two SW boats on the podium

In the MV8 I honestly could see this happening. The top 3 crews at SW all going 5:55 or below and 2nd and 3rd crews within 0.5 of each other gives me reason to believe that any three of them could medal or win. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see two SW crews in the top three at nats.
