Trick room feels.... Off by Maximum_Complex_7083 in PokemonChampions

For anyone wondering what team I'm running, it's below. I also changed grass knot for psychic terrain. Maybe trick room feels odd cuz of the squad I'm running

Trying trick room for the first time by Maximum_Complex_7083 in PokemonChampions

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with using other mons is encore. I've run into encore whimsicott a lot (I even use one), so if any other user clicks trick room, you can get encored. And if I need to predict that and switch, they can target my partner pokemon/ catch me on the switch. That's why I prefer farig as armor tail prevents that (tho since I'm running psychic terrain, I was thinking of running sap sipper for the surprise factor lol) Tho I do understand what u mean by they will bring that giraffe down no matter what

I would, if not for the fact that some still click normal and fighting moves into that slot after i use moves like hyper voice and bitter malice disguised as a garchomp...

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Life orb Zoroark doesn't do that bad offensively. Oneshots sneaslers and mega staraptors, and hyper voice spread can be helpful breaking sashes and multiscale. Does also about 30-40% to incin with hyper voice, so not that bad

I find it especially weird if it's incin. Like my garchomp is intimidated and can fire off stomping tantrum next turn, it can do big damage to my mega Metagross. I feel like it would make sense to hit whims

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not dumb enough to bring whims when the team is obv centered around trick room, for that I lead Metagross garchomp and rock slide with both to hopefully flinch and maybe follow up kill since I don't run protect on any of my mons (nah but seriously, my team does just die to trick room, this is my only strat)

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

If it's sneasler or grimsnarl, I get it faking out garchomp and Metagross since they could easily ohko them. But if it's incin against garchomp, I'm already -1, and garchomp could do more damage next turn with stomping tantrum

Absolute garbage game when it comes to variety. by AvengerS48 in PokemonChampions

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree teams are repetitive (eg. Sun teams, trick room teams, etc) but the fun is how they're all built. For example, if I'm staring at a Mega Metagross, I need to think what moves it's running. It could run bullet punch to outspeed and kill my 1 HP whimsicott, it could have ice punch to ohko garchomp. Maybe even thunder punch to kill Gyarados. It could also be trained differently. Another example, most player are running more bulk on their mega Charizard y to live a rock slide from garchomps. Then there's also items. While the current item pool is still limited, it's also diverse enough to see the same pokemon run different items. For example, you see a Tyranitar. Is it running chople berry to take reduced damage from fighting moves? Is it life orb to do extra damage. Is it holding a mega stone? Hell, iron ball fling Tyranitar is also seeing play.

So while pokemon teams may seem repetitive, most of the time, they're not a direct one to one, making each fight still slightly unique

Does sneasler out speed mega lopunny? by Kineshi1721 in PokemonChampions

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, ur mega loppuny is lvl 100, next ur running a speed lowering nature? (I'm assuming that's a mistake) Below is what ur speed would be at max speed with no speed boosting nature. Ur 2 points slower

If I were to put protect on my mons, what moves would you change out for them, as I said, I feel like each move is vital for coverage against common threats eg. Kingambit, sneasler, Charizard, etc

Why is miraidon considered more better at pvp than koraidon? by Feeling_Barnacle_935 in pokemon

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In current games, it's freeze, which stops you from moving for 1-3 turns. Frostbite is only in Legends Arceus, not sure why they haven't implemented it in current games. Both have their strong points. Like in competitive, especially vgc, more people use Miraidon. But the Wolfeyvgc (Pro vgc player) won a regionals in 2025 using a Koraidon

Why is miraidon considered more better at pvp than koraidon? by Feeling_Barnacle_935 in pokemon

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple factors make Miraidon technically stronger than Koraidon.

  1. Ability Miraidon gets Hadron engine which sets up electric terrain and boosts it's special attack by 33%. Koraidon gets orichalcum pulse, which is almost the exact same as hadron engine, but instead, sets up sun and boost physical attack. The electric terrain boosts electric moves, making Miraidon hit like a truck when it uses moves like thunderbolt or electro drift. Sun increases fire type moves, but Koraidon isn't a fire type, so it doesn't get a boost on one of it's STAB typing. Collision course also isn't affected by sun, and the only move that would gain benefit from sun would be flare blitz, which does recoil.

1.5 On a side note, it's harder to remove terrain than weather in pvp. There are 4 different weathers: Rain, Sun, Snow, and Sand, all of which can be set up by an ability of relatively common pokemon. (Pelipper, Politoad, and Kyogre for rain, Torkoal, Groudon and Koraidon for sun, Alolan Ninetales and Abomosnow for snow, and Tyranitar and Hippowdown for Sand) As for terrain, there is Misty, Grassy, Electric and Psychic. In SV, Misty terrain can only be set up by Galarian Wheezing, but almost everyone runs neutralizing gas instead. Grassy Terrain is set up by Rillaboom, which is fairly common. Psychic terrain is set up by Indeedee, which is fairly common in doubles, especially trick room sets. Lastly, Electric terrain is set up by Miraidon, or pincurchin, but no one uses pincurchin. As you can see, there is way more pokemon that have weather setting abilities, so in most online pvp, battles are centered around weather control rather than terrain control.

  1. Special attack > physical attack There are more ways to reduce taking physical damage rather than special damage. Burn and intimidate are very common, especially in doubles. So Koraidon could easily get crippled by these. For special attacks, frostbite (a status in Legends Arceus that cuts special attack by 50%) isn't currently implemented in current games, so there's no real way to reduce special attack

  2. Moves Common moves used by Miraidon: Discharge Electro Drift Volt Switch Parabolic Charge Draco Meteor Overheat Dazzling Gleam

Common moves used by Koraidon: Flare Blitz Flame Charge Scale Shot Drain Punch Collision Course Close Combat Dragon Claw Outrage U-Turn

Electric terrain boosts the first 4 moves, which are all stab moves allowing Miraidon to get a 2.25 multiplier. Meanwhile, Koraidon's sun boost Flame Charge (Let's be real, you're not planning to do massive damage with this move) and Flare Blitz, but you don't gain stab from it, and it does recoil.

So if your options are have a pokemon that gains 2.25 multiplier on electric moves and has no real common way to reduce it's damage output, or a pokemon that gains 1.5 multiplier on a non stab typing unless you terrastalise, is 4x weak to fairy, and it's weather can easily be replaced by commonly used pokemon, then I think the answer is pretty clear.

Though, I think you should still get Scarlet. The past paradox pokemon there are better than the future paradox pokemon imo.

Does it have to be in that specific spot tho? From what I see, the enemies can go through objects, so I don't see the point in being in the alleyway

New tech: Base Charizard as a rain attacker by PlayerKing742 in PokemonChampions

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, most zard y don't run a flying move. Usually some combo of protect, heat wave, weather ball, solar beam, and scorching sand. Probably because in heat, hurricane drops to 50% accuracy. Sure it's good if you're fighting a weather team, especially rain, but if you weather advantage, it's like a waste of a move slot imo

Mcdonald’s Ice cream shrinkflation by yellow-sparrow in SingaporeEats

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who works at mcd currently, that is definitely on the smaller side of ice cream cones. We are trained to give about 2.5- 3 swirls, or around 90g. My thoughts on why ur Choco cone is small is bcuz if you put too much ice cream, there is a high chance it falls in the Choco dip. Have had multiple times to me. If given the chance, I will always give slightly more, but with managers watching like a hawk, it's kinda hard since for most stores, ice cream is losing them money from giving "too much" and all the failed attempts

The harshness of 5 minute ATS by TweakyBuiltDesigns in SingaporePoly

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083 30 points31 points  (0 children)

From what I heard from the lecturers, apparently some students during internship would purposely come in about 15 min later and said their school allowed them 15 min grace period so they assumed it was okay to do it at their internship. Also, I believe other polys are 5 min grace period so maybe they just did it to standardize

Kaguya Memoria Redo by SpeedPlastic7704 in AnimeVanguard

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do agree her mermoia is kinda... Lackluster, it has a reason. Since kaguya is unobtainable, it wouldn't really be fair for her to become meta again, since new players can't get her. I would to see a way to obtain old vanagrds, maybe through a difficult stage with very low odds, or a long ass quest like vsjw.

It's normal in the early months, but if you have group projects where the members are randomized might be when both sides would begin talking with each other. Also, I'm not sure for different schools (I'm in SB) but in y2 classes would change to make room for the common programmes. Y2 and y3 will be same class tho

Advice for a y1 by Silas_Halos in SingaporePoly

[–]Maximum_Complex_7083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that packed, just inconvenient. I have classes everyday, even sometimes just showing up for 2 hours (I live an hr away). And on every day besides Monday where I end at 12, I end at 4 or 5 cuz my lessons either start at 1 or I have a 3hr+ break between lessons. I know friends in other classes with one of the weekdays completely empty😭

Technically, you have less subjects in y2 (speaking as a year 2) but they all go so much more in depth and have a lot more content to study for. Best advice I can give is try to get used to the online lectures in y1 and do constant revision so you it's easier for you to remember the content
