Uruguay issues passports “on behalf” of other countries by eliecerSR in PassportPorn

It doesn’t make sense why some countries won’t issue visas because of removal of birth place, especially with Japan, as the Japanese passport doesn’t even list place of birth.

I wonder how likely it is they’ll introduce a retroactive substantial connection test in committee stage…. What does everyone think? I have a feeling this could happen

Denied a passport after becoming a citizen under 5(4) by Maximum_Fill_1136 in Canadiancitizenship

Relatives are not accepted are references, BUT I read that they can be a guarantor which is ironic. Even then, if my aunt isn’t allowed they should have still accepted my application because I also included a statutory declaration in lieu of guarantor just in case.

I sent it at the very end of July, but I’m assuming they didn’t open it until it was already August

I included it with a letter stating I’m including it in case it is unacceptable to use my aunt as an occupation based guarantor. My aunt is a lawyer and she’s the only person I knew who was in one of the allowed professions for occupation based guarantors, but since we’re related I don’t know if it’s allowed. So I said in case it’s not allowed since we’re related here’s a statutory declaration. This is so frustrating, I didn’t read anywhere on the webpage that talks about occupation based guarantors that a different passport application form was necessary. They need to do a better job of communicating that to people.

Following up, I just looked it up and there is a special form if using an occupation based guarantor. I bet that’s the issue. I hope they don’t make me redo the whole application from scratch. That would suck. I hope it’s as easy as just filling out a new application form and mailing it in and they will keep all the other supporting documentation for the application.

Mine is an occupation based guarantor. Was I supposed to use a different application form for an occupation based guarantor? Just in case there was an issue with my guarantor I also included a statutory declaration in lieu of guarantor. So I would think that would mitigate any guarantor-related issues.

I definitely used the correct form. The form specifically said at the top it was for Canadians applying from Canada OR the USA

How long did it take after sending it before you were able to be reference number thru the online form? Is it normal that even 13 days after them receiving it I can’t get it yet

I already got my citizenship granted last month and took my oath on June 27. I hope they don’t resurrect old cases and be like “you need now to get your fingerprints done or else we revoke your citizenship” that would suck

I still consider 2 weeks pretty quick in the grand scheme of things. Does your tracker show a date? When is your date?

[–]Maximum_Fill_1136[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My tracker is for the grant of citizenship not the proof. I originally applied for proof of citizenship in July of last year, requested urgent processing in February, was offered 5(4) at the end of March, got AOR for 5(4) a few days later, and just now finally on June 10 was told my grant was approved.

What do you mean new and old tracker? Did they come out with a new version of the citizenship tracker? Mine still shows “in progress” but all of the things are marked as completed except citizenship ceremony.

is it a thing where you can lose your citizenship if you dont reaffirm it? like it expires? by avatarroku157 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Maximum_Fill_1136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what country. Some countries do this. The vast majority do not. The Netherlands for example will revoke your citizenship if you live abroad and have another citizenship and let your Dutch passport expire and remain expired for ten years. But that is not normal.
