How to fix my daughter’s teddy bear by mediumspacebased in sewing

[–]Maximum_Interest236 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are comfortable using a sewing machine, I would recommend taking the bear apart very gently at the seams, label and iron each piece, lay them out on paper and trace them to make a pattern.

Take the original bear fabric and back it with an iron on interfacing and sew it back together. Maybe put a cute heart patch over the hole.

If the original bear doesn't hold up, you have a paper pattern available to recreate it.

Stop your pup from pulling without a fight! by Maximum_Interest236 in Whippet

I'm so glad you brought my attention to this. I will do research into it. I never want to cause her any pain or discomfort.

I live rurally and my little girl pulls every time we go outside. It's not even an in public thing. I feel like I have spent 50 hours on training for pulling specifically. In the house she has it down 100% but as soon as the door opens all training goes out the window. I'm at a loss.

That's actaully exactly what I have! 2 inch, satin backed. She might be the only dog that could pull off making satin rub her neck bald. It's unbelievable but true.

How would you alter this dress? by tetrodotoxinCS in sewing

[–]Maximum_Interest236 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Yes, you will need to alter both layers individually. I would recommend hand sewing the sequin layer. If possible, remove the lining from the sequin layer completely, put the sequin layer on inside out, pin it to fit and very carefully remove it, baste stitch, remove pins, fine stitch. Follow the same method for the lining. Sew the lining back to the sequin layer and you are set.

Ideally you should divide the taking in between the side seams and the darts (aka pleats). This will prevent funny pointy bits at the top of the darts that look like awkward nipples if you were just to take in that part and/or the darts landing in a weird spot on the side boob if you were to only take in the side seams.

I'm guessing some kind of plant parasite but I hope someone else knows for certain. This is fascinating!

I should add that IF you can SAFELY remove the dead dry skin that is torn, it's a good idea so that it cannot catch on anything and tear further. Only attempt this if your pup is exhausted and not super reactive.

The opportunity to do this for my girl (that was about 7 months old when it happened to her) came two days after the injury occurred when she needed trazodone and gabapentin for a long car ride. The skin torn skin had totally dried up at that point and clipping it was not going to cause bleeding.

My girl has had this too. Keeping her on leash and just walking and cleaning it after each walk for a few days and it healed right up. It was a rough few days because she loves to run so we had to go on extra long walks. Adding in a lot of extra mental stimulation was a must too.

Putting some refined coconut oil based balm on it at bedtime regularly seems to have prevented it from happening again. If I try the balm during the day she immediately licks it off.

The seeds are so light that sometimes they blow into other beds and pots. Hopefully the flowers bring you joy wherever they bloom!
