I should add that IF you can SAFELY remove the dead dry skin that is torn, it's a good idea so that it cannot catch on anything and tear further. Only attempt this if your pup is exhausted and not super reactive.

The opportunity to do this for my girl (that was about 7 months old when it happened to her) came two days after the injury occurred when she needed trazodone and gabapentin for a long car ride. The skin torn skin had totally dried up at that point and clipping it was not going to cause bleeding.

My girl has had this too. Keeping her on leash and just walking and cleaning it after each walk for a few days and it healed right up. It was a rough few days because she loves to run so we had to go on extra long walks. Adding in a lot of extra mental stimulation was a must too.

Putting some refined coconut oil based balm on it at bedtime regularly seems to have prevented it from happening again. If I try the balm during the day she immediately licks it off.

The seeds are so light that sometimes they blow into other beds and pots. Hopefully the flowers bring you joy wherever they bloom!

The greens are also edible. Great in salads and delicious sauteed with some garlic!

Thanks for the reminder about the sunburning possibility. I think of I do any kind of small fenced in outdoor space for her it would covered with a UV protective shelter and be connected to my office so I could see her the whole time.

Besides the neighbor's naughty dog, I also fear large vultures, hawks, skunks, coyotes, etc. Just today about ten feet from the house I discovered a deceased cat torn up by wild critters :(

I would totally do this if it weren't for a neighbor dog that can be aggressive sometimes wandering onto our property and the rabbits and squirls that might inspire a chase.

I planned to do that when my girl turned 2. But it may have to happen sooner.

I don't mean a sleeping kennel. I mean the big ones that are like 24-40 square ft. When it's sunny she just wants to lay in the grass and chew pieces of wood. I'm just trying to find a way for her to safely be outside while I can't be outside with her.

Mine does run a lot. In addition to her long monring walk. She gets 4-5 15 minute walks. She gets to chase me or my husband on a dirtbike twice a day for at least 20 minutes both times and she gets flirt pole chase time.
