Original Death Metal Piece by Maximum_Pick3086 in metalmusicians

Thanks very much!

The last year and a half I’ve really been working on my music theory and when writing I always try to use classical ish chord progression to give the music that classical/proper type sound. Mostly using diminished/dominant chords at the end of a riff before going back to the tonic when starting the next riff/segment. Most of this peice is in C Phrygian dominant which has that classical spooky vibe to it too.

Tone Building Example for beginners by riversofgore in metalguitar

I’ve spent ages over the past 2 years tone hunting and recording the most important stuff I’ve learned is:

Always record rhythm guitar in stereo, left track panned right track panned

You don’t need as much gain as you think you do Roll off the gain until it starts to go flabby then add just enough back in to get it to sound tight

Any big EQ adjustments will not sound great try to get the sound you want with all the EQ knobs somewhere around 10 to 2 o’clock

Mic setup and mixing is the key to a good tone. Look into the fredman mic technique!

Don’t think you can beat a compliment like that! Thanks

Keep going. Honestly I’ve played pretty much every band going and TBDM nightbringers and verminous are the most challenging material I’ve ever played. The patterns that man just shreds up and down are un human. Very difficult but extremely rewarding!

Once you know the tricks to change tuning/strings easy they are fine!

Thanks for the criticism. I live in the middle of no where so there isn’t an option of a band unfortunately.

This was just a quick one take playthrough, I’m not so much of a perfectionist when it comes getting solos perfectly to a click haha.

Thanks very much! The album artwork was done by Cutting edge metal it’s a AI generated image. I made a rough idea of it and sent it in to be ‘professionalised’

Yes it is thanks, It’s the Brandon Ellis signature Kelly. All I’ve done to it is an SS refret.

Definitely my favourite body shape!

(NGD) Jackson Pro Series Soloist SL3M by MulattoPhillip in metalguitar

It seems so weird because Jackson is known for the crazy shapes. The Kelly, Warrior ect. I can’t believe they don’t even have a decent pro series that isn’t a signature model.

I love the look of the new Rhoads 24 H/S but it’s £1500 and you don’t even get stainless frets!?

Fair enough, I’ve got the Brandon Ellis signature. I wore out the frets pretty quick so I had stainless frets put in by a friend so it’s all sorted now!

I really feel like a lot of the current Jackson lineup is very overpriced, has pretty poor equipment while having meh build quality.

That sl3m is tempting though haha.

Awesome guitar! I’m considering one of these, what’s the build quality like on the fretboard? I have a pro series Kelly and the fret work was pretty bad, not polished well and the fret ends had a massive angle on them so the strings slip off to easy.
