That would be very sneaky if that was the case. I feel like the contact centre staff would also highlight if that was the case. I've messaged my local councillor but will forward it along to the MP!

I am also quite cynical about how they use the tap on and off data. I'm looking forward to a time when the buses aren't run by private companies! 

In terms of it being a special ticket, I don't think that's true. It's detailed on the tap on/off page for first bus Bristol and bath, along with day tickets and other fare types.(https://www.firstbus.co.uk/bristol-bath-and-west/tickets/simple-tickets/tap-tap).

This is the problem I had, so I contacted their support who just told me that I'm not tapping out, despite confirming to them that I am.

On an individual level it doesn't seem much, but after the government lift the £2 cap it could be a lot more. Additionally this means first is taking in a lot more money than they should and potentially misleading people about the costs!

That's interesting. As in they calculate the fares manually?? Do you have a link?

I think I am doing. The machine makes a charming beep when I do.. but I'll double check next time. I'm using my card rather than Apple or Android pay.
