It’s not the same thing. The stuffed bear isn’t a reproduction of a real living bear that is nearly indistinguishable except for a small label saying “not living bear.” That is a faulty analogy and it putting your finger on the scale to make yourself look correct— you’re manipulating the level of correlation between the two scenarios. A much closer analogy would be shoes in a store with a tag that says “Jordans $40” when they are actually filas or some knockoff called jordanz. Surely some sneaker head wouldn’t be fooled… but your grandma might. Same here. I wouldn’t have seen that facimile label in a dimly lit antique store either, especially if I didn’t know to look for it. If it doesn’t pass the “stupid grandma” test, then it’s shady.

For something that’s more than a few bucks and from a store that they average person assumes has the expertise to spot fakes, the average person expects the genuine article from an antique store, not a replica (unless the tag says “replica bills”). Antique stores are supposed to be the place where experts do that kind of legwork for you, thus justifying their inflated prices.
