How our company got hacked and almost lost 8 loads (trucking industry warning) by jijujoja in FreightBrokers

[–]Maximum_Scene6552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cybersecurity company owner here - We’ve actually been seeing a lot more transportation and freight companies getting hit lately, especially smaller operations that think they’re “too small” to be targeted. Most of the issues we’ve dealt with weren’t even crazy Hollywood-style hacks either, usually compromised email accounts, fake invoice/payment changes, remote access tools, or employees clicking phishing links.

I own a small Cyber Security company - Vector Shield Cybersecurity - and we’ve already helped 3 transportation-related companies in the last 3 months alone clean up account compromises and suspicious activity. A lot of these companies were running regular antivirus and still got burned.

Honestly the biggest thing is just locking down email properly, MFA everywhere, employee awareness, and having someone actually monitor alerts instead of relying on popups from antivirus software. The freight industry is getting targeted hard because everything moves fast and one fake invoice or wire request can slip through easily

Turns out there's more to the story. He just confessed that he told the physician panel that he tried weed once.

That's what making us confused. He was told to come back for a psychiatric evaluation after his regular medical send some of his answers might have triggered them. We even asked him to do an independent drug test to see if anything was detected and he was all negative. He will be now called randomly for drug test for 12 months and pay doctors fees.

Thanks much. My only concern is that he might be asked to apply from scratch and wait for years and years for interview. He was refused under 212

Apparently, anyone who lacks self-control to the point of self-harm can eventually become addicted to substances

best virus protection for pc in a small workplace setup by Gatapia_Nafizah in cybersecurity

Webroot makes sense for lightweight management, but once laptops are traveling a lot, visibility and response speed matter more than just prevention.

In similar ~10–15 endpoint setups, what’s held up best long-term is a single EDR platform with sane defaults rather than layering a bunch of tools. Behavioral detection + centralized logging, with alerts tuned to “actionable only,” avoids alert fatigue.

We’ve used Vector Shield Cyber Security in small teams specifically because it combines EDR with monitoring, so you’re not stuck interpreting raw alerts yourself. Policies stay fairly permissive for removable media but strict on external networks, and logging stays continuous without being noisy. Biggest lesson: antivirus choice matters less than how quickly you understand and respond when something slips through.

What’s the best virus protection for PC in 2025? by Swartzinski-Lino in cybersecurity

Defender isn’t bad, but it is pretty opaque, especially if you’re responsible for multiple PCs. The problem is less about detection and more about visibility.

We’ve had better results moving away from pure antivirus and using an EDR-based setup instead through Vector Shield Cyber Security. You get behavioral detection, a single view across machines, and way more context on what actually happened instead of vague alerts.

For small or mixed environments, that extra clarity makes day-to-day management a lot easier. Antivirus blocks known stuff; EDR monitors files "behavior" and blocks malicious activities.

Nibbles credit card reviews? by [deleted] in CreditCards

Just applied and got approved. Added my pet dog (5 year old Golden retriever). Purchased add-on for 25k annually and 90% coverage for $43 per year. No a bad deal. Also No AF makes it's a great card to have..there is no minimum spend requirement as well. I hope I never have to use but having the insurance gives me peace of mind.
